Since filming this, I have moved my desk into the light and am blinded for 6 hours a day by the sun. On another note, I am insanely grateful for the opportunity I’ve had to work in all of these cool places over the past year. It’s been the experience of a lifetime. Thank you for watching and thank you for your support 🙌🙌 (Also sorry about the crackly audio at the end 😩)

FYI: some of the audio is over-driven, it's not just at the end ... well, maybe you meant it's all of the audio you recorded last

gain was too high when you were outdoors... this is one issue with working solo i guess? but it is also pretty solveable... you can always record some test footage and sample it before doing the actual script. sound quality does matter quite a lot!
@tjcasper777

As an audio engineer, the sound is fine. It's intelligible and understandable. It might not be up to your usual standards, but recording in lots of different locations and at lots of different times is difficult... and seems to result in an exponential increase in sneaky gremlins. Ask me how I know... sigh. Keep up the great work!

Having faced this kind of audio issue many times, the simplest solution I came up with is using a digital recorder with a lav mic that is not connected to my camera, like the Tascam DR-10L or the Zoom F2.

As someone who worked a weeks in and around Joshua Tree (had to drive out to 29 Palms for cell reception), I truly love this video. However, as someone who works in post sound, you’re correct about the end having issues, but also the rest hadn’t been up to the quality you’ve shown in all past videos. I have my recommendations, but it’s probably too much for someone trying to relax more.

21 months later. I leave the house 1 or 2 days a week to get food or take care of family elders only. Work days are 10-12 hours a day M-F. Some sat/Sun/holiday hours. Not motivated to do anything. I find the only things I can do are the things I can do routinely with little thought….basically work. Work is 4-6 hours of conference calls everyday then another 4-6 hours of getting work done. 21 months later my manager has yet to call and say “how are you doing. Is there anything you need or I can help with?” I’ve put on 35 COVID pounds. Last year I put in 800 extra unpaid hours. That equals 5 months or 40 hour weeks unpaid. My employer calls that “casual” overtime. Last year I also lost 1/3 of my vacation being available for storms (I work for a utility). None of which got recognized or even acknowledged.

For me the pandemic has shown how bad actors can really ruin life for everybody else, how greed fubars a lot of people, with excuses so lame that you wonder just why. That is what really makes me sad. We as species are really in a bad spot in term of respecting one another, and the pandemic made this even clearer. I know it is life here in this rock.

Thanks for the info. I guess, people are trying to have "one less thing to worry about", and feel better when regular needs can be addressed in a formulated way. But evolution and such is that, we grew up among trees and stuff. I'm in India now, where there is a lot of urban pollution (both noise and stuff), and have plans to move to Australia. I've lived in USA, but did not like their dependence on cars. Off_grid housing, with community_battery_energy storage seems very interesting. OK, and bye.

I have done something similar. Only difference, it was on my own terms, actually in Aussie and Kiwi land ;) During my 1.5 year journey and also after, I talked to a lot of people who travel or travelled a lot themselves. I noticed that everyone has the same big road block after 5-9 months of travelling. (there are exceptions obviously) One is the lack of purpose, the other one is having (a feel) at least some kind of "home base" to fall back on. The term "home base" can be taken very loosely. In general, the grass seems to be always greener on the other side. After long months of travelling I feel like I want to go home. After staying home for months, I feel like I really need to travel again. As for the pandemic, because of the circumstances I was in, it has been actually one of the least "problems" on my plate. So in that regard it didn't effect me that much. But most of all, I noticed (compared to other people) it's ALL about state of mind and mindset. Being inside or travelling both simply still have problems and issues. They are just different problems and issues.
@braincraft
@braincraft 2 жыл бұрын
I'm impressed that you managed to navigate the state and country border restrictions! I don't think I would have been able to do this trip in any other country. There really does seem to be a time when you need a home base again - for me I have started travelling for some video shoots and it was too difficult to do this remotely. I'm back in NYC, for now, and in the last week I've been experiencing the opposite of all the emotions in this video 😒 Extremely thankful for the opportunity, but it is jarring to come back to how I used to live

I know what you mean. That's is one of the reasons why I dislike working from home. It's difficult to disconnect from work. Some employers would expect more work for less pay and the employees once worked at the office is now expected to be more available on-call, even on weekends and holidays. If you can, try to establish a boundary that fit into your employment agreement and get them to respect it. Burnout is hell.
