Aweful, hobby or not it's terrible for anyone to go through this, you could see the joy on his face in that demo and to have something he worked so hard for and enjoyed so much to be gone in a couple minutes, it's very sad. I think you and anyone who can help him has an amazing heart for doing it and even those that just show their support are appreciated.

It is hard for me to feel bad for this guy because it kind of baffles me that he would have thousands of dollars worth of audio equipment and not have it insured.

Such a shame. That was a beautiful setup too, windshield wasn't even moving the bracing was so good. Sadly by the time they tried using extinguishers the fire had probably reached the amps and wiring and what not and became electrical.. at that point you need a special fire extinguisher for those. Really wish I could help.
