No offense to the N1 but I think the ARC 170 would be a better ship for Din Djarin. All he needs to do is hollow some parts out as living quarters while keeping the weapons

When I was a kid, I couldn't tell the difference between the Arc-170 and the X-Wing, so when I first played the Kashyyyk level in lego Star Wars, I thought the Arc-170 seen in that level was Luke's starfighter on Kashyyyk somehow.

Only note: the ARC-170 does not REQUIRE 3 crew, but it works best when fully crewed. The tailgunner and co-pilot definitely helped bring the heavy fighter to its full abilities, but in a pinch, it can be manned by a single pilot (and astromech if you're going anywhere).

The Arc 170 should have be a more limited number fighters for they were meant for recon rather than a nimble fighter that was needed in the dogfighting that was common in the Clone Wars.

The ARC-170 was an amazing starship, but the Republic used it as a fighter instead of a CAS, strike bomber, and recon ship. If mounted with a Gatling gun, it would be the A-10 Warthog in Star Wars and would be the ultimate CAS ship as it had dive bombing capabilities. It could work as a strike bomber to disable capital and escort ships. Too bad we never got to see the ARC-170 in its element in the Clone Wars. It’s a fantastic starfighter, but was used incorrectly as a fighter. It could act as a fighter when needed, but that is not what it’s primary function is.

Fun fact the ARC-170 looks like the P-61 Black Widow which is a real aircraft Twin engines, 3 crew (1 pilot, copilot/weapons officer, rear gunner) which has the same seating layout, not to mention airbrakea that kinda look like the s foils Not sure if the ARC-170 was actually based on the P-61 tho

a great compliment to the x-wing and a-wing. plant a few venators or Lukerhulks as mobile starfighter bases around the mid or outer rim, and the rebellion (or pirates if one dares) could have wreaked havoc on supply lines or garrisons.

I remember seeing the ARC-170 back when I first saw Revenge of the Sith and thought it was the coolest ship I've ever seen. I even had the Lego craft itself years ago.

I remember using this in BF2 2005. While I super rarely use anything other than bombers in space battles, I loved the ARC 170. It's an iconic fighter, joint precursor to the X-Wing alongside the Z-95, and all around badass starfighter. Love this thing with all my heart. My absolute favorite Republic starfighter of them all.

I know it's for story reasons, but you think with the taken doctrine approach to star destroyers, you think they would have loved thier starfighters to be just as beefy with so many guns and weapons than a fighter as flimsy as a tie fighter

The coolest looking starfighter in my humble opinion, and I would definitely pilot one of those if I were a loan bounty figured type. Modify it with a storage thing in the back for bounties? Little sleeping station somewhere? Bam, perfect ship.

ARC-170's are cool. Just like its successor the X-Wing.

I loved this ship when growing up, though the fact that the republic had to constantly change ships agaisnt just a few shows that. Indeed the clones ruled the ground but the droids the air and space.

Now that's cool. The Arc 170 was the father of the Rebels X-Wing fighter.

Been thinking about the ARC-170 for the past week or so. I remember as a kid I use to always think it was cool but not X-wing level. Nowadays I absolutely love the design of it over the original T-65B X-wing. It also highlights how shallow vehicle designs were in the sequel trilogy.

To be fair having watched this video, I reckon the ARC-170 should have been Din Djarin's replacement for the Razorcrest, it seems a bit better suited than his Naboo Starfighter

The Arc was never my favorite thing to fly in a dog fight. I genuinely dislike the fact that you cannot use the full ability with a single pilot. It's more a gunship on a small scale not a fighter.

The ARC-170 is comparable to the Bf-110 from World War Two, a heavy fighter, night fighter, and bomber destroyer designed and largely utilized by the Luftwaffe. If you look at it, the crew locations is just like it: Pilot and Co-Pilot (at least in the Night Fighter variant, the H-4 variant) sit forward, while the tail gunner sits back. This is also likely the case as there are many a WW2 references in Star Wars. However, it may also be based off the P-61 Blackwidow, a USAAF Night Fighter. It is also a WW2 fighter, and there are also many similarities to it as well upon closer inspection. Most notably in the crew configuration when you put the two together, however the ARC-170 was used in a role akin to the Bf-110 as the P-61 was not a fighter bomber or proper fighter (except in the Night role). I personally call it the F-4 Phantom of Star Wars, as I call the X-Wing the F-14 of Star Wars even though it’s based off the Spitfire if I am correct. Just a thought. Yeah I don't know about that 5 day operation range claim, I'm going to assume at that 5th day the crew is dying from lack of water, its a bit small to carry food and water for multiple days for 3 people in my estimation from irl planes that operate for multiple days such as the pbm mariner

A hugely demanding beacon though, unlike the X-Wing and its spiritual successors like the E-Wing and the far superior X-83 Twintail. One can't simply be a paragon if they're known to demand quite a lot on success and effectiveness. Edit: Should have used X-Wing pics in the very end.

Something I been wondering for the longest time, was Anakin's fate to fall to the dark side and become Darth Vader a sealed from when he was picked up by Obi and Qui-Gon? Like was there ever a What if thought out on if the events to lead to Anakin's fall never happened

I’ve always said that the ultimate planetary defense for the outer rim, at least for a planet trying to fend off pirates and keep the peace or for a patrol starship group, would be three Gozanti-class cruisers, equipped with as heavy of turbolaser batteries as possible, then two equipped with racks of 24 vulture droids or similar droid star fighters) each, the third with space to dock four ARC-170s. To round out the group, four additional ARC-170s that would be on separate long-range patrols at any given time.

I love the design of the ARC-170, but I think the V-Wing Clone Interceptor is aestheticly cooler.

I love the arc 170 and i always thought due to its design it would of been perfect to deploy a swarm of 170's and y wing bombers to strike a sepratist fleet or out post ahead of a fleet or just on their own much like how the rebels would do those types of attacks against the empire, in a way it could of created a bit of fear amongst CIS comanders becasue at any moment they could have a strike force of hard to destroy fighters and bombers wreaking havoc on their fleet or base fallowed by an invasion or simply just a raid.

I love the ARC-170. I would classify it as liek the B-wing, stronger and more specialized then standard fighters. I like how we see a clear evolution in the Republic's tactics as CLones are harder to replace. THe started off with line formation tactics, then trained CLones and developed vehicles with specilization in mind. GOing from the agile but fragile V-19, to the more standard Z-95, introducing the ARC-170 as a specialist fighter, then with mounting losses they decided to retire the older fighters and make the ARC-170 the main fighter doing bombing and general combat, withthe V-wing acting as the agile anti fighter duty. Essentially they realized they can beat the CIS with numbers, so outgun and out think them.

They were not the best fighter because of their size as well as they were not very manoeuverable in dogfights. Also to the fact that it took up to three pilots to fly it, so if one ship was shot down, you would lose three pilots instead of one or two. That being said they were magnificent ships that were highly adaptable and carried a lot of heavy fire power. If I’m being honest, they were better really as reconnaissance ships going behind enemy lines, especially considering they had hyperspace engines so they could travel a great deal without the need of a Venetor Class cruiser. or perhaps part of a second wave of starfighters in a battle that would attack capital ships after the way had been cleared. Either way they were highly specialised, and I think would only be able to be used at a certain part of a battle in a specific role rather than simply throwing them out in any situation to any type of fight.

2600G?? how would the pilots even survive that, unless they have some sort of "The Expanse" style gravity juice

Sham Din Jaran didn’t get this as his new ship. The N1 is nice and all but it’s a ship that is way to specialised for speed and dogfights, not like the Arc-170 wich is a generalist ship with recon and bombing abilities

You know the arc 170 looks a lot like a P-61 and I know that fighter was inside warthunder at one point to but it's not there anymore

I feel like the arc 170 could have been a single seater fighter the back gunner could be easly be automated and the the front gunner role seems more like a backup pilot

The ARC-170 is among the best star fighters in wide use in Star Wars canon. Very much an under-utilized ship.

They were ok, but not a match for droid starfighters as the computer brain of the droids can perform millions of calculations in an instant, putting the droid starfighter in a much better position strategically. In Filoni's Star Wars is the complete opposite because the dude loves to retcon.
