I am a Msian Chinese Christian, grew up next to a Malay kampung. Till today, after 60 odd years, mostly living outside Msia, the sound of Muslim prayer (daily 5 times!), druming, singing during festivals and weddings, dances....are all essential ingredients to tell me, this is home.

Thank you so much for being positive about the parade. Its not often that something Islamic is appreciated by non Muslims, local or foreign. Yes, it was the Prophet Muhammad's birthday and that was the song sung by the people of Madinah who received him with open arms after he was ousted by the people of Mekah. Cat Stevens (now Yusof Islam) sings a beautiful rendition of the same song. Having said that, its such a juxtaposition.. from a religious parade - to see in your video from around min 3.40 the 'massage girls' ( for want of a more polite word) lining the street seeking patrons - how embarassing and shameful! I can bet that 3/4's of them and their 'bosses' are from Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia and Indonesia. Just look at the faces of these women closely and u can see they are not locals - if any Malaysians are involved, they might be runaways or had been tricked into this trade. In fact that may have been the same case with these foreign girls too. So heartbreaking😢. I don't want to sound patronizing or holier than thou, but I hope you will not equate KL to places like Patpong. Sleaze is frowned upon by Malaysians of all religions except for the desperate few. Absolutely embarassing and sad.😢. Anyway, i hope you will enjoy the rest of your stay here, and thank you for being positive and appreciative of Malaysia😊

I completely agree! But I think the duality of a city like Kuala Lumpur is what makes it so special. Of course some parts are not as easy on the eyes as others, but that is the reality. I think you said it as politely as you can, and thank you for being so insightful about it. So many cities around the world suffer the same level of duality. Coming from LA, I can certainly attest to that. I really appreciate your comment and think it's important to be said! 🇲🇾💛
