A Better Alternative to Auto Ortho for Xplane 12?

Ай бұрынA nice short video which hopefully help improve peoples xplane experience like it did for me. This may not be for everyone but I am supprised more people are not using this.
Two versions are availible the free is more than enough for majority of IFR users and for me way less crashes and way less system resources used.

AutoOrtho was brilliant innovation by its author. Map Enhancement is, for the most part, a functional clone of AO. Both are front-ends for Ortho4XP that use a FUSE filesystem to dynamically serve .dds files to X-Plane. I can only assume that ME originated directly from AutoOrtho's source code and the ME author found some efficiencies in the processing side of the equation. Kudos for that but I find it distasteful that the author is charging money for this "creation", especially, since it used unlicensed tile sources.

Agreed without any kind of AutoOrtrho I would not be playing XP no where near as much as I have been recently.

With auto ortho I often get stutter in the sim from time to time due to the high cpu usage when auto ortho is downloading new tiles. Just wondering if this map enhancement tool does it better in optimizations

I found it way better on using far less resources, try out the free version that's all I use it's more than good enough for me. Alot quicker to setup aswell 👌

@@crispeay Windows only that’s why ! AO is built using Python and is fully multi platform which is a huge advantage of XP !

For me its other way round AO no resources looks nice map enhancement looks nice but uses 90% cpu

xp12 version of map enhancement looks far worse than autoortho atm, at least on my machine, the medium settings tiles look really bad and low res compared to autoortho and I'm not certainly pay a monthly fee for streaming maps on high res plus I don't even know how they look like. On top of that I've got much more artifact from mapEnhancement compared to autoortho. On the other end, the free version for mfs 2020 looks stunning, so much better that the original, especially goole maps if you fly vfr, it's absolutely amazing with all these details.
