I couldn't find one on KZfaq (at the time of posting) and since this scene is so epic I thought I'd upload! "A Better Tomorrow II" is owned by Fortune Star Media, I don't own any content or any part of this video.

It's oddly poignant that it's Dean Shek playing the character he does. He was reviled but I loved him in all those old Kung Fu Comedy movies, I actually think he's one of stronger aspects of A Better Tomorrow Part 2. RIP Dean - a true legend.

I still find it interesting that John Woo had the attention to detail that so many action directors are lacking these days...stray bullets go somewhere, in fact I think it makes it look like the protagonist is in a lot more danger if they dive out of the way of a hail of bullets and you see where the bullet would have hit in a cloud of dust. Gives weight to the idea that that hole could have been put in them if they didn't move.
@Bone748383 жыл бұрын
Yeah that is why John Woo got his stint in Hollywood too back in the day. Then they got rid of him. But also this scene is quite silly... Killing that many people and gun play does leave an affect on you.... Its filmed like a video game level.

CGI can make some impossible things look realistic but always looks like a cartoon when it replaces practical effects. Scene is a hundred times better than most shootouts you see in movies today (though I wish there was a reload on those Beretta's)
@dawnderhenker2 жыл бұрын
I wish they would use blood packs and real partical effects today. John Wick would be so much better without the cgi blood. And I can´t understand, why they even use CGI for blood. Ok its easier to shoot and repeat filming scenes, but it doesn´t cost much more and got a much better effect and weight

@Max William Lauf He would use full load blanks (which are still dangerous at close range) but he also had this idea in his head that hollywood seams to forget...stray bullets go somewhere. Ever notice the difference on how much of the scenery gets wrecked in a John Woo shootout? Even in something like John Wick, the shootouts feel too clean, like any shot that misses was just a blank.
