I enjoy your longer videos, so no apology needed for video length. Your new baby bull is adorable. I hope he does a great job and throws good traits in his breeding. Also thanks to Brent for doing some of the video, he doesn't get enough credit for helping with that. I hope you all stay safe and healthy Tay.

My uncle ran a smaller dairy farm back in the 1950's and into the mid 1970's. I always enjoyed visiting. Believe it or not, the thing I remember the most is riding the tractor while he was towing a loaded manure spreader. Keep posting the videos. They take me back to my "good ol' days!". Big city life isn't all it's cracked up to be. Ask me how I know.

Morning Taylor from Max & Jane in Australia we stumbled on your channel purely by chance & enjoy watching very much. My opinion on tie stall barns has been limited & I'm glad to see your cows get to spend time away from being tied all the time, dairy farming in Australia is so different to what is done else where in the world & it's good to try something different. Keep up the good work, have a great day

Good morning Taylor. Looks like the future of your herd is well planned with Neil and your new Ayrshire calf bull. Your talents as a herd manager are a great plus. Even though farmers don’t have a degree from Harvard they have the smarts and common sense to help them through all of the aspects of farming. Another great Taylor (tailor) made video. 🐄🚜🌽😉

Great explanation. I did not know about the suckling action of the calf as being therapeutic for the calf. Sounds like you have some evidence you are correct. The way you explained it makes sense: Having to work at it a bit trains the calf to eat, etc. Way to go Taylor! Keep at it!

Neil is such a heel.... Lmfao 😂😂😂 Remember the more you handle them the better. But bulls are bulls. We had a red and white bull that was a huge baby. Never acted up... he was gramps longest bull. Had him 5years... then sold him to a neighbor farm. Love the videos. Enjoy your weekend.

I also love that you appreciate the older equipment for it's design and capability. Nothin' wrong with new tech (as long as it ain't junk) but we can't forget about the tried and true stuff

Friendly advice. Don't rub your bull calf on the head. It encourages him to butt at you. And I noticed Neil has horns. I'd be dehorning him pretty soon. You have some good stock. A purebred Ayrshire should be a big boost not only in genetics but cream and butterfat. 🙂

Observation is a great way to learn, fyi, the sucking adds more saliva which aids digestion and the head placement helps direct the milk to the right part of the stomach. Calves feed on a teat have less digestive issues and you get more gain from the milk feed, but you have worked this out for yourself.

I can remember having to place my hand into a pail of milk, turn up three fingers to calf`s mouth and away they go drawing up the milk, after a few days, by slowly withdrawing the fingers, they learn to drink normally. Another great video, keep safe. Out of curiosity, is what you call Ashier cattle the same as we have called Ayrshire cattle, pronounced `Airsheer` ?

Alabama watching, my dad bought dairy bull calves in the sixties for five dollars. We bottle fed them with powdered calf milk, then calf feed, lots of scouring. Most were pot belled and never did as well as calves on there mothers. Question? How do you get the replacement heifers todo so well or reach there full potential? I enjoy your videos. I can dairy farm from a recliner! Thanks and be safe FIRST.

I totally agree about bottles versus buckets. It's interesting the different pronunciations of Ayrshire. I grew up pronouncing it Air Shire, my daughter-in- law says Air Sure, it sounds like you say Asher. Maybe it's a regional thing.
@badgerpa92 күн бұрын
Not to be a sexist pig but it is really cute when she says it. Years ago when I visited some distant family in New York they pronounced it the same as Tay does so I think it is regional. I hear both Air Shire and Air Shure in Wisconsin.
