Have yet to experience anything like them again. Probably never will.

I’ve tried to get into them but It’s just too old for me. The atmosphere and dialogue is awesome, but the gameplay puts me to sleep. I can see why people enjoyed them so much, but my millennial brain can’t stay interested in those older games. So I’m definitely looking forward to experiencing a modernized remake of these iconic games.

@@radiofloyd2359 They had it in Far Harbour - the fog/mist was central to the plot. It's already in there, so they can simply play around with the colour.

@@duplicitouskendoll9402 oh then you can be almost certain they will. In the time I worked with the team they at least demonstrated a pretty good understanding of the CK, as well as atmosphere.

there is actually one official artwork of necropolis, which shows necropolis like literally dead city. for you to tell how it looks like, it is like Boston in Fallout 4, but entire city is surrounded by endless desert, with partialy dark clouds over city itself.

I have only played Fallout 1 for 5 hours, have died almost 10 times in the first levels due to lack of tutorials, but I really like the dark and gritty atmosphere that it has. It really makes you feel the desolation and depravation of the apocalypse. The lack of tutorials and intuitive information make it really unforgiving and unwelcoming, but nothing a few tutorials and trial/error can't fix. The soundtrack is amazing, and the graphics are not very good, but they were never a must-have for me (although it definitely helps). Overall, if it were to be remade, I only would ask for a better tutorial to the game's core mechanics, but keeping the turn-based combat in this era plagued by FPS titles will be the greatest challenge.

@@kiyoshimiyasato7324 it really aged poorly, I gave it a chance and looked stuff about the game mechanics but the way the game works makes you feel like you waste SO MUCH TIME, just like the other fallout games I guess, but this game is isometric so it's way worse, action is turn based too so you better not play this while having even a tiny bit of sleep deprivation, it's a potent sleeper agent

@@TheRhalf Fallout 1 hasn't aged at all and is timeless. It's the first modern RPG, and even latest releases like BG3 aren't too far off from it. Fallout 1 pushed the genre so far ahead there's been very little improvement over the decades.

@@sophiaperennis2360 Dude, I'm not denying any of that, but we are living in 2024, not in 1997, the game needs some manual fixes because it runs at low fps and loading times are longer than they should, the inventory is very annoying to use and the overall user interface is outdated, it did in fact age poorly, it's not a bad game tho, it just needs a remaster to bring it to enjoyable levels

Fallout The Story was really just a mini project by a very few modders and as far as I know, only Shady Sands was ever finished but they stopped working on it. Seems kinda pointless now with that FO4 Engine FO1 remake anyway.

in a weird way, modders doing it is a win win... takes about as long (probably) as it would if bethesda did it, and doesn't take time away from bethesda for the new entries... which also take that same-ish amount of time... and we probably will end up with a more mechanically sound version of each one having been remade

@@Tinywars Actually the developers for Skyblivion believe that they are fairly close to reaching their end, at some point this year. And skywind, is a bit bigger of a game and is going to need a lot more work, so that one's going to be trailing behind a bit longer. I forgot to mention my previous comment, that the beyond Skyrim series is also being worked on, and that one they as far as I'm aware they have beyond reach done, and then they got beyond Skyrim bruma, and I believe they're working on the rest of tamriel using the assets from Skyblivion, but slightly altering the landscape to reflect the future instead of 300 years in the past. But there are all kinds of projects being worked on, this one with fallout, might take a very long time because they essentially have to create what the game looks like because the game was 2D in the beginning, which means there's going to be a lot of inspired art and inspired liberties for the people who are going to mod it, and it'll probably take just as long as Skyblivion being mentioned here, it would have been better that they started this project either a year after the game came out or right as it came out, starting on it at this stage is going to make the wait last forever. But for the Skyblivion team to have this mod out at some time this year, they work almost as fast as a full team of Bethesda do when it comes to creating a game with just volunteer, in comparison to Bethesda having over 200 employees all working on the same game being paid to do it and taking a roughly a decade to get it done. So I'm rather impressed that they were able to get most of the game done within that amount of time was just volunteers and unpaid people. However not the whole game will be added just yet, I believe the creators of that mod said that the game won't be complete as in all the DLCs but you will have the base game fully finished with some writers and embellishment added into it.

@@Tinywars I did too, but it was from unofficial sources. This time it was heard through that rebelzaz KZfaq channel, who always does videos for Skyblivion and talks about its updates. This is just the base game though, dlc, and I doubt very much they have all the navmesh done for the player to have followers. But as far as I'm aware, the world landscape is done, and the quests are nearly done. They got all the armor weapons combat music textures models NPC voices all done roughly a year ago, the hardest part was putting the quest's together.

@@M50A1 Yeah but Crowbar Collective had support fom Valve themselves and it took them well over a decade finish the game. Bethesda wouldn't be so generous like that nor would I call the modders tempermental or be angry if these projects were never fully realized really. Remaking FO3 or NV is one thing but remaking FO1 and 2 requires a lot of reimagining

Enderal was such a wonderful take on Skyrim, I just want something exactly like that but for Fallout.

I'm also replaying New Vegas right now, and after watching some speed running videos, I was seeing things I've never seen in hundreds of hours of game play. There is still some stuff hiding I haven't found yet, 12 years later. That's good value for the money.

The only way I see them being interested is when Todd Howards leaves Bethesda, when ever that will even happen.

It’s a massive headache though and the older games are unique, they would feel way too much like fallout 4 reskins but I would love to play them I’m not going to lie I need to invest in a pc

There was a missed opportunity in-between New Vegas and FO4. They should have released the older ones in the FO3 and NV engine.

Yeah, but that takes away the style of the old games. Putting them in a new games engine, while nice for new players, takes away what made the games special. It's not Fallout 2 in Fallout 4, it's fallout 4 with Fallout 2 in it. If that makes sense

one of the most important things of fallout 1 remake is to leave it isometric like it was. Otherwise you will fell you're playing F3 add-on... which is sad.

They did remaster Skyrim and they are going to remaster Fallout 4. Like most publishers these days Bethesda seem to think remastering the last game they released is more important than the games that actually need to be remastered. It annoys me no end!

@@krashd i'd rather see them remaster Fallout 3, in F4 remaster they'll probably reuse the same engine so it'll be completely pointless... they did that with skyrim twice though so the risk is there

Let alone fallout 2, where you don't even start with a gun so unless you want to do an unarmed or melee playthrough (and good luck beating Frank without high end energy weapons), you're fucked.

Nope, Mod Organizer 2 makes it easier than ever to get modding. It's quite intuitive, too.

@@darkushippotoxotai9536 I use it but there are still mod compatibility issues where some interfere with other mods. It would be nice to have almost everything in one package. Of course adding extra is always a good option but if pretty much the full remade experience in one would be very helpful.

there would be a huge problem about making fallout 5. Storyline was soo messed up by Bethesda, that there is literally no possibility to make Fallout 5 without making sci fi game. Beside that in which years should fallout 5 even take a place, that would make sense with actuall storyline? I'm not saying it is impossible,but really hard would it be for sure

Some modders are working on it right now. It's the Capital Wasteland-project. I played FO3 and FO:NV a ton (1.2K hours each), but not as much as Fallout 4 (6.5K hours).

I strongly recommend the Thuggysmurf series, specifically Outcasts and Remnants, and Project Valkyrie.

Fnv new calif/the frontier are the biggest, all the bananas , or the librarian for fallout 3 , Godzilla on fo4, get on the Nexus and look at all quest-lands mods. Too many large mods on one game may cause long game loading time's. New California to new Vegas to the frontier as a example. Huge amount of assets to load after 4 to 5 hundred game saves. Mod that with mo2, enjoy.

Fallout Tactics would be perfect in the Xcom game engine.

One thing I can't unsee in Fallout 3 are completely random piles of rubble, despite structures around and above it being intact. Also, constructible buildings in Fallout 4 being only random trash nailed together. Enough technical knowledge survived for people to make nuclear reactors, power armor components, and robots out of junk electronics, duct tape, and coffee cups, but carpentry is somehow a lost art?

@@kireta21 realistically, places like the Capital Wasteland would look a LOT more like Horizon Zero Dawn, with vegetation completely overwhelming all human made structures, to the point you can barely notice them.

Just because it's being remade in the newer engine doesn't mean you need to cram it all into a single worldspace.

I agree with you about the maps, but whats the issue with the battles? I doubt modders can make FO4 into a turn-based game. And I guess one of the major points of remaking FO1 on newer games is just having a different gameplay. It's a personal opinion but I'll probably be more immersed in some of the battles than in the original game, imagine fighting your way out of the Vault caves (like in 1:23), compared to just seeing where all the rats are or where the exit is like in the original. Although I played both original games, I'm not really a fan of turn-base combat, I find it unrealistic and immersion-breaking (nowhere on real life an enemy would give you a "turn" to stab them fifty times) so this kind of mods are great for ppl like me. This realtime combat also has its own strategies and tactics, it's not like it would be easier. World travel wouldn't be an issue either except maybe for loosing the great random encounters FO1 had. In that sense the F:NV mod "Fallout 1 - The Story" made a good job at recreating the original worldmap At the end of the day, this is just a mod, not an official remake/remaster or something. You don't have to played it nor the original game would be replaced by this, like some official remasters do tl;dr: this is like having a fighter jet on your background and complaining because some random dude made another one with different mechanics, you can just go and fly your jet if you don't like this new one.

I really don't think it's that complicated. The isometric wasn't so much an intentional choice so much as just the standard RPG format of the day. The game play itself is just a reskinned GURPS. The travel might be a bit harder, but they could always turn each of squares on the map into its own 3D map. That would be a lot of walking though.

if there would be love, the game would stay isometric. now.. it's just another copy of F3
