The Brompton is such an ingenious piece of design. I was out on my 22 year old one today with the retirees (on bigger bikes) and I only really suffer on the hills with the 3 speeds and the stoney tracks.

Whoever would have thought watching a shopping trip in Swindon could be so enjoyable! Although there's not a lot I can say in Swindon's favour, one good thing I always notice though (Iwhen Husband and I go there) is the number of cycle paths. Pinehurst - I bought a treadle sewing machine there the other day. We are really enjoying your videos! Almost our nightly viewing. Husband said, after watching your King Alfred's Way trip - "I've got to do that now!" And you are at least partly to blame for a purchase I made today - a Brompton! I'd been thinking about getting one to take on the bus and train and your videos clinched the deal. Thank you for all your efforts to produce them - I can imagine the work that goes into it.

Oh Wow Lizzie, You got a Brompton. I will be uploading a few E bike review videos shortly but whenever I go out to the shops or around town it is on my Brompton. I use it two or three times a week. I find it so good and don't have to worry about leaving it outside when I go shopping:) I hope your Husband will try the King Alfreds way. It is a challenge but a great adventure

I used to own a Mezzo folding bike. On one ride, I popped into Lidl to pick up a few things, folded the bike and put it in the trolley, went in and did my shopping. When I came out of the store pushing the trolley a chap came up to me, pointed at the bike and said ”did you buy that in there?” He seemed quite disappointed when I told him Lidl didn't sell folding bikes. I found that taking the bike in the shop with me either in the trolley or rolling it along on the jockey wheels was too much hassle, it got in the way and was easier to lock the bike up outside. I sold the bike because I wasn't using it enough, small compact folding bikes have too much compromise for my linking and I nearly always chose to ride my full size touring bike over any of the many folding bikes I have owned over the years.

Hi Chris, I have a specific purpose to this folding bike and that is to combine it with journeys on public transport but I must agree a full sized bike does roll better

Had my Brompton for seven years now and wouldn't be without it. As for the shopping I found it easier to fold the bike and put it in the shopping trolley and use a rucksack instead. Just a personal preference really, nothing wrong with the front bag system at all. Hope you're enjoying the new bike Sandy, looking forward to the next video already.

I use my Brompton more than any other bike - it’s great for shopping - I prefer to use the handle bars up when folded and shopping and push it - with the easy wheels ( after market ) it pivots and runs smoothly- sometimes I take the bike into shops unfolded without the pack on the back rack - great to ride - please do more Brompton vids - best Rob

That Brompton Bike is such an ingenious design Sandy. I have a folding bike, but, it only folds in half and definitely does not fold well enough to offer any where near the compactness of what the Brompton does. And it does not roll anymore when in the folded position so you have to pick it up in order to move it anywhere with you. You have an incredible winner there my friend. Very, very, wise choice. Thank you again for sharing your day with us and continue to stay fit, happy, and healthy. See you on the next adventure. Cheers-

God I wish I could use a bicycle again! It kind of highlights how being disabled costs you a lot more money. I have to use a mobility scooter to get around. Town is five miles away (scooter has MAX 10 mile range on a great day with new batteries and a good headwind on the flat! lol) so I either have to use the car (again isn't a nice small car as it has to fit the scooter in and has a hoist to lift it in and out) or go by bus that has only one place for a wheelchair/scooter and is often filled with prams. So you have to wait up to an hour for the next. Then they stop running at around 4:30PM anyway. The bike look great and the way it folds down is fantastic!

Hi Tom, I brought my Brompton which is a standard A line (The cheapest) online on the Brompton website. You have to setup an account with them. Currently they have no stock, I just checked. If you do buy an A line they are supplying them with the 44 tooth front chain ring, but to make the bike easier for the hills I swaped out the rear sprocket from a 14 to a 15 tooth. Makes the 3 gears more usable and 1st is quite a good climbing gear. You can get a 15 tooth rear sprocket from "Brilliant bikes" costs about £3. Cheap. The other thing I added was a rear rack and mudguard, a front mudguard, a carrier block and front bag.

@@harashigomari1690 I was wondering if that had something to do with it, mid afternoon here in Austria is normally busy. I tend to go just as they open at 7:40 ( another reason I have loved moving to Austria, no twenty four seven shopping and everything shut on Sundays bar the bakers in the morning and petrol stations. So nice to have a breather from commerce just like it was when I was a child in Devon in the 70’s. Fuel costs are rising like everywhere else but they just started to roll out the €500 bonus to help with costs. Not sure what it is there but it’s €500 per person, €250 for under eighteens, my friends who have two grown up children still at home will get €2000. I never really know what it’s like in reality there as I’m not sure whether to believe the media in the UK much these days, some say everything is fine, some say it’s going to be very hard. I hope everyone manages to get by. Feels like the sixties and especially the seventies there though when it was really tough.
