"A Bride for Henry" is a 1937 American film directed by William Nigh. When Sheila Curtis' (Anne Nagel) fiancé doesn't show up for the wedding, she drafts her lawyer, Henry Tuttle (Warren Hull), to stand in for the missing groom.
When Eric Reynolds (Henry Mollison) finally shows up, after sleeping off the bachelor party, Shelia intends to get a quick divorce, and marry him, after the media attention dies down. Although, Henry has been in love with her for years, he gets fed up, and spends his time, on their "Honeymoon" with his old girlfriend, wealthy Helen Van Orden (Claudia Dell), and a bevy of beauties. Shelia soon gets jealous; and, realizes that Eric will always be unreliable; while, it's Henry she's always counted on, and loved; but, it might be too late. She might have taken Henry for granted for too long.
---
Directed by William Nigh, produced by Dorothy Davenport, screenplay by Marion Orth, story by Josephine Bentham, starring Anne Nagel as Sheila Curtis, Warren Hull as Henry Tuttle, Henry Mollison as Eric Reynolds, Claudia Dell as Helen Van Orden, Betty Ross Clarke as Mrs. Curtis and Harrison Greene as Constable.

**** NONspoiler Review*** What a clever script with an outstanding cast. I loved this movie...not only because it was black and white, but because of the time period and just fabulous clothes. It was funny...Not laugh out loud funny, but clever lines said with perfect comedic timing. I chuckled to myself throughout. Perfect lead actress Anne Nagel plays the spoiled, complaining, bossy socialite bride to a Tee. She's obnoxious, but at the same time likable because her requests are so absurd. Oh handsome Henry, played by Warren Hull was such a delight. He is the type of man that you would bring home to mother. He has the patience of a Saint because he put up with Shelia's nonsense. All others were equally cast beautifully. I would recommend this movie 100%. I hesitated at first because I'm drawn to drama, but this just hit the spot on a Saturday evening with a glass of wine. Enjoy. Thank you Timeless Classic.

Cigarette smoking was very common then, surgeon general's warning didn't come along until the 60s. Single beds were the only beds allowed in movies thanks to the Hays code of movie morality that lasted until the 60s.

(Claudia dell ) and some beauties! Shiela gets jealous, realizes Eric and she are not suitable for each other, while it’s Henry she counts on. She wonders if she’s taken Henry for granted for too long! The end was pretty good 👍! Anne nagel and Warren hull were great in this movie 🍿-I don’t understand the criticism over her-well, it was the character they were mad at-not the actress who played her-and I think it was undeserved! The two were in another movie again in 1939-and the subject was marriage-I have to see that one! ☝️
