SatEight SatEight i never said they had to change anything about the characters, i was simply pointing out that it would be perfectly normal for someone to not understand what they were saying, especially considering their voices are very quiet and muffled and there’s a constant breathing noise in the background which can be quite distracting at times

Because midwest emo is nothing more than alt rock with questionable actual emo influence and I can't help not to cringe because midwest emo just as fake emo as My Chemical Romance (plus the pretentiousness). And is mostly weak, self pity and a failed attempt to direct energy and emotion into music.

Heck, i even join in on the fun sometimes in comment sections and stuff and dont mind the odd tøp song. I dont say im one of those emos, cuz im not, im more "2000s" - but they're nice kids overall. Don't judge too harshly 🤷♀️

@@lostgirl1243 emo revival/4th wave emo isn't really about twenty one pilots or bands like that, it's the indie influenced midwest emo and pop punk bands that are popping up now. stuff like joyce manor, modern baseball, and marietta. much more on the indie side than the punk side

Well, it partly did. Emo and Goth both diverged from Punk music, with Goth as a subgenre of Post-Punk and Emo as a byproduct of Hardcore Punk/Post-Hardcore. But now, they are pretty much their own thing.

I reluctantly watched this expecting to be annoyed at the inaccuracies...but I was surprised. This was pretty on point. I would only disagree with the general dismissal of "emo revival" but that's pretty minor. Of course there are important bands missing but it's a 5 minute video. You can't talk about every influential emo band in 5 minutes. Great job!

It's not about "telling kids to "learn history and respect traditions"" but about how stupid is society again giving credit to some for something they didnt do and ignoring the credit the underground deserved after 30 years. Many of the mainstream "emo" bands from 2002 on are just playing regular pop music while wearing a haircut (not all of them). To me is as stupid as the music world and music media forgetting two decades of rather very well known bands before those.

Deafheaven and if you know them try Castevet (the black metal band) are what I would call "grown-up" emo music. I could never get into straight thrash or death other than new Gorguts and the most crushing band in another universe Vektor.

Ackshually the "emo revival" referred to in the video they were talking about the modern revival (its being called emo revival) this includes bands like Snowing, Mom Jeans, and Emo Pop Revival like Modern Baseball. the bands homeboy listed were og revival (2nd wave emo)

naaah, mcr is washed out whiny-metal/pop rock bullshit. emo is a subgenre of punk music, and sorry but their sound is everything but punk (by punk i mean any alt. rock subgenre emerged from original punk rock music like hardcore punk, post-punk, math rock, indie rock, gothic rock, noise rock etc). anyway, mcr isn't emo at all, and pitchfork telling you it is, doesn't make it true. #peace

I listen to legitimately anything that displays talent and heart (jazz, blues, rap, pop, metal [any kind], rock, punk, country, classical, and different types of instrumental music), but my favorite genre is emo. Sometimes I’ll be like nah I’m not emo (because I don’t look it or act it at all), but I don’t know how else to describe it
