I was actually in shock when I got to the end of the video, as it felt like I had only watched 2 minutes...that's how fast and flowing it was. @@Hubcapdiamondstarhalo I said influence. People were rebelling against the Beatles by 76 arguably earlier whereas today everyone still wants to be the next Nirvana and NOTHING'S happened since grunge. The Beatles were definitely huge but there were so many great bands and movements whereas grunge was already 30 years ago and feels barely 20 and it was only a handful of bands and Kurt was the only superstar.

@@MrBooYa-yd5er If we're only talking about movement wise, well Kwave (kpop boybands or girlbands) are overtaking the scene and are exploding in the market just like Seattle Sound. The difference is grunge is an ideological movements and a form if rejection towards what was mainstream (hair metals) back then while K-pop was practically manufactured by companies (without discrediting their music though).

I am 46 soon to be 47. That time was so special. I look back now and feel bad for kids growing up today. There was so much sadness when Kurt passed because we all felt he took a little bit of the hope with him but I also think it was because we were growing up. Thanks for all the great comments. I tried to make this one without my face being on the screen. The hard part about doing that is there are very few pics from this era Kurt Cobain. Krist took a video camera around with him filming everything during this era but he has copyrighted all the content. He sells it to Courtney whenever she wants to make an "I didn't kill Kurt movie." I am still learning how to edit so with time I will know how to do more.

It still kills me that Wendy O'Connor is living off her dead son who she never ever helped. Look at the childhood house she is trying to sell for half a million or more. The house is run down and normally worth $80k-$100k The gutars she has sold or tied to sell over the years through the half sister Brianna. Look her up. Kurt's grandfather Leland has a great quote about her always wanting more and being more than she really was. Wish I could find it.

I just wanted to add a tiny thing, I listened to an interview with Kurt _(can’t remember which, I might have it in my nirvana playlist)_ where he said that he freely chose moving to his father place, just to become very disappointed about his father that never accepted him for who he was. He tried to impress him by joining a baseball team that his father coached and by joining a wrestling team, but he could never live up to his father standards.

@@MrBooYa-yd5er One of the many docs I've watched on Kurt and/or Nirvana did extrensive interviews w/ his family and various extended family he stayed w/, or rather attempted to take Kurt in. One of these was the stepmom and she was very sweet. Kurt was a handful though. There's a good reason why that many separated houses and families turfed him and it wasn't because they were all neglectful meanies. He was a boundary breacher, sullen, depressed, willful and rebellious. It seemed to me that the once very happy, but also very hyper child that Kurt once was somehow develped attachment disorder. he pushed everyone away that he desperately needed love and attention from and became his own worst enemy. He was a sensitive and empathetic person, no doubt, but too much so and he inadvertently brought a lot on himself.

This is true enough. Kurt also found someone w/ a very similar family background to himself though. Courtney had a rough childhood as well and was bounced around a lot when she was young. She was even worse for having poor to no boundaries than Kurt was though. Birds of a feather and all. I know Courtney gets all the hate and blame from rabid Kurt and Nirvana fans, bu it wasn't all on Courtney that I can see. Kurt was handful. I'm not a big Hole or Courtney fan, but i see both sides and see them both as very troubled people. In the end, Courtney was tougher and managed to survive. It couldn't have been easy getting blamed for his death. I don't think she killed her kid's father. I think she loved Kurt, did the best she knew how by him, despite all her flaws and addictions. She's a wildcard, but she adores her daughter and it showed that she adored Kurt too and they had a great rapore and sense of humour together. They seemed well suited, two hot messes making the best of it w/ each other, well able to understand the rejection they'd been through from their families.

Great video, cliffhanger for me - I was not expecting Dylan to show up already. Hard to believe, but I'm a new Nirvana fan, just started listening in October 2019. Done plenty of other reading, however found ASF channel filled with such great content and details I do not find all in one place! Was doing my own rock history search through Emo genre that led me to Sunny Day Real Estate, then to Foo Fighters. Mind blown when I discovered how they formed, so I had to investigate Nirvana - only indirectly heard Smells Like Teen Spirit and had a wrong impression of what their music was about. "Afraid” to download iTunes… decided on Unplugged as my first and was just hooked, took my time with it. Now have In Utero too. * Learning the personal history makes the music listening complete, thanks so much! *

Due to the KZfaq algorithm I have been watching these in reverse, starting with part 3. Kurt's experiences growing up were pretty tragic to be honest. It isn't any wonder that he became an addict and had social dysfunctions. Makes perfect sense. It's relatable too...Growing up in N.Ireland during 'the troubles', rock, punk, and metal were not accepted. The people I hung out with and became friends with were outcasts that didn't fit in. I spent a lot of time crashing at friend's houses on sofas and jamming in bands. Lots of drugs, addiction, and mental health issues. The jilted generation, as The Prodigy labelled us. I have no doubt that if I had grown up in Seattle at that time, I would have fallen into the same crowds, just in a different location.

6:40 "It took months of being on the phone, crying every night, trying to talk her into letting me live with her." - Kurt Cobain on his mother's reluctance to take him back in during his teen years.

Wish you’d do a video on professional Kurt lover / hanger on , Charles R Cross. Dude is straight up obsessed with Kurt and I’ve heard us paid and given info by Courtney … he irritates me to no end .

This might be patently obvious, but it seems like every family has a "Don". Also, the resemblance between Don and Kurt at 1:43 was uncanny!!

@@AmericanSpyFox Hey there! No, DEF not from Courtney. I didn't know she had that tat! that's hilarious. I can totally see it though. After all, if you know what the term "letting it bleed" means, it's no surprise she would get that tattoo, lol.

@@rsohlich1 yes, def a great album. That period was great -- would be hard to pick a favorite, but that one is up there. I've always thought it took some major balls to give that name to an album, especially back then. :)
