@@azul1964 Britain used mostly revolvers in military till late 1954 while Americans and Germans used semi-auto magazine fed handguns (Luger and 1911 respectably) and revolvers were out-of-date even in WW1.
@leeowen4989
@leeowen4989 Жыл бұрын
@@madkoala2130 Out of date doesn't necesarily mean useless. With fewer moving parts and therefore less to go wrong, a revolver is more reliable than a semi-automatic. They can also bring a bit more stopping power because not only do they put more useful energy into the projectile, they can fire larger calibres compared to a semi-automatic of the same physical size. And because there is no magazine to wrap your hand around, the grip conforms better to a natural hand position, making it more comfortable to use. The downside is of course the lack of ammunition capactity, the time it takes to reload and the small gap between the cylinder and the barrel that allows some gas to escape, potentially injuring the shooter.

Not a funny commentary to this. After firing exercises artillery guys went to target area, maybe out of curiosity, maybe for an inspection, I don't know. They were not firing HE rounds, but shrapnel, that explodes while still in the air which sends a cone of metal darts or ball bearings (whatever particular shells contain) towards surface. Guys stand there in silence, it didn't felt comfy, of course, there were no bodies there or anything like that, it just felt like the area is full of death itself.
