My friend, this is amazing stuff!! As a dental student, you sometimes forget what you're working towards. It is so nice to see someone impact the lives of their various patients in such a positive way! Really gives me something to look forward to as I wade through chapters and chapters of anatomy and physiology! Keep it up Joel! 🙌

I’ve been wanting to get some minor bonding on my top teeth to close some little gaps but I haven’t been to the dentist in almost 7 years. Your videos have made me feel so much more comfortable with making that initial appointment so I can take the cosmetic steps in the future. I wish I was in Thunder Bay so you could be my dentist! I’m in Minneapolis. You have the best bedside manner & are so incredible at what you do! I’ve watched some vlogs of other dentists who are not nearly as upbeat & understanding with patients. I hope the dentist I’m going to see will be just as awesome!

Glad to see that you’re doing well, Joel! Your videos somehow bring me back to the good old days of Clinic 1, desperately fighting for that last endo credit in order to graduate (or praying that Posluns will let it slide with the mannequin). Good work with all the vids and keep warm in Tbay!

Great video man 👌🏽 could you also do a video about continued education as a general dentist and how a hound dental grad could go about getting the experience with diff cases and challenge themselves. Also could you talk about your approach to how you paid your loans relatively quickly .

haven't heard back yet, this was a recently filmed video! my fiance @dentistdani brought up a good diagnostic tip which I hadn't thought about at the time which is that I could have used a gutta percha point into the fistula (head of the infection) and seen if it tracked back to one of the teeth. the pt was referred to an endodontist!

I would love to do a specialty after I get my dds but the thing is the school I am at is very competitive. Wondering to know if I can get average grades, get my dds and get my specialty in a less competitive school or practice for a few years and then apply to a school that accepts with lower grades.

Great video Joel but I think you need to work on the sound quality a little bit more and the background music was a bit too loud. best of luck! I can see you going big one day!
@jmey
@jmey 3 жыл бұрын
I don't disagree. This one was mainly filmed on my iphone (convenience with patients) and there's a lot of background noise in the dental office (air purifiiers, suction) which certainly didn't help (I tried to drown out slightly with music). Going to try another day in the life soon with my camera setup

Hey Joel, very nice video! Would love to hear from you about new dentists and RCT. My dentist doesn’t do rct at all and the other dentist only does front teeth rct. My retired dentists used to do all of them.
@jmey
@jmey 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Mariah, it really comes down to the dentist and the case. If a dentist isn't willing to take on an RCT, it's them looking out for your best interest. They can make a referral to you for a specialist if it's needed.

Hey, love the videos. I'm seriously considering stepping into this profession, however some of the blood and tooth extractions are hard to watch. Is this something I can hope to get better with time or is it a clear sign i should NOT pursue dentistry as a career? I KNOW I want to be in the medical field but some of the blood and physical body parts are difficult for me to look at.
