THANKS very much! Because of your comments about the switch which caught my attention, I watched this video and solved my problem too --- which was "how the hell can or do I swap them out without breaking the plastic?" This dude clearly showed the solution (how its done) where other A/C videos never even bother to mention these switches.

THUMBS UP to you!!! Thank you so very much.... I've spent lots of time researching what to do about my new compressor missing that switch on the back side. YOU are the only one to show us how to safety remove it at 5:31 and removal of the plug on the new compressor! I guess everyone assumes we would automatically know how its done. I personally was worried about breaking/cracking the old orange (in my case) part. Plus I read on blogs that you don't need the switch at all ... "it's just a safety feature" one person said. I didn't believe him though. BUT AGAIN, thanks for showing us a simple but important part of changing a compressor INCLUDING THE SWITCH TOO which others don't mention at all!

If it's the same style of compressor then that is the most likely leak. Just got done replacing the one on my 98 Yukon. Edit to add, got a kit that replaced the compressor, accumulator and orifice tube plus came with oil for under 400 bucks at autozone in California.

I have a question. Are you supposed to put the been orings on the end s of each line. To and from the compressor, the evaporator, condenser and accumulator as well?.... The lines come with a metal oring with a black rubber center. We keep getting there's a leak because we can't get it to vacuum.

Great video! I am about to change the compressor and receiver/dryer on my 2000 Tahoe Z71 old body style like the 99..this indeed helps me with this. Question: Since I am also replacing the receiver/dryer..I am reading where that part also requires some sort of adding oil to it? Or..will the AC service shop I take it to..to evac/fill with refrig..do that?

@TheDaninator

Refrigerant could leak from virtually anywhere in the system. Charge it up with refrigerant that has dye in it. Then use a black light to find source of the leak.

some call it high pressure switch,low pressure switch ,or even cut off switch.Works either way but it's the compressor cut out switch.They aren't actually needed unless you have a serious problem elsewhere in the system which can damage the compressor.

2001 Tahoe, when I pulled the plug on the new compressor to swap my high pressure switch a blast of air under pressure came out....this is a new compressor I noticed yours didn't....why was there pressure? And or did I screw up? Being a new ac compressor I didn't thing it would have any pressure. Also it said it shipped with 3 oz of oil....I have not pulled the profile plate yet. But should I check it befor adding my oil...it requires 11oz.....thx

Harrison h6. Both of my 2000 silverado 5.3 trucks have them also. Seems like gm went with denso on most trucks later on due to them leaking from the case because there are no dowel pins that hold case alignment together.
