Americans were taught how to make good movies by Hitchcock and Chaplin, both British, and by watching other British films, but they diverged after WW2. When Americans were lied to by their politicians and press, and told that they alone had won WW2, they became arrogant as can be, and still are to this day. Their movies also went way downhill for many years, and although there have been plenty of good ones by both countries over the approximately 80 years since WW2, there has been plenty of garbage too. What you consider a blockbuster is in reality a pile of garbage that caters to the instincts of people not smart enough to think. Sitting in a theatre while you are bombarded with mindless fights, chases, and explosions is the equivalent to taking an arm full of smack or fentanyl. It just knocks you unconscious for an equal length of time. Even the price is fairly equivalent. The fact that a large number of people are stupid enough to waste their time and money on this is NOT something to brag about. Neither would I brag that my country produced most of them! It's also no surprise that American movies win the most American awards. The Academy Awards have also never been considered all that accurate in judging quality. They are less respected than ever now. The technical awards do carry some respect, but most of the others are considerred to be political in nature, and often highly unfair. They are certainly in no way an accurate international reward. But then nobody expects that of them. I have been far too wordy here. My point is simply that you are wrong.
