Love what you do Oz. I always build my own pc's. My first ever pc was a Compaq 286 box and I upgraded it by adding a 3.5 inch floppy drive! Also added some ram chips which back in those days (I'm 67) plugged into sockets on the motherboard. The trouble with watching you (and for example The Toasty Bros) is that I get the upgrade itch even at my age! Here in the UK the CPU you chose is more expensive (cheapest I found was £149.99 on Ebay) but the cooler is cheaper, £20.99 on Amazon. Keep on building!

😊 my first pc that my parents bought me was and IBM AT Clone 286, the case said Kaypro, i special ordered a click clack keyboard which was a clone of the IBM keyboard, nowadays to replicate the feeling i use mechanical gaming keyboards, i have one that blue switch and another is red, feels good, I still have the pc upgrade itch so what I do is every once in a while i buy cheap old used computers off of my local area and fix em up just for fun and see if they still work and try out some video games on them.

@antftwxАй бұрын
I've been subscribed to your channel for a while now and your videos are so calming and your builds are so downright logical that you've inspired my next build. Well it's more like you've inspired me to finish my current system. I've been using a mish-mash of parts for years because I gave all my good stuff to family. An 11400 with no gpu, stock cooler, an h510 itx mobo, 16gb Corsair LPX ram, a 600w Corsair sfx psu, in a Rosewill case with no side panels because there's absolutely no airflow. I'm gonna upgrade to a Thermaltake Versa H18, which I've grown to love after seeing it on your channel so many times. I'm going with a Thermalright Assassin X cooler because it's all I need. I wanted a really clean, white, minimalist, liquid cooled system for a long time, but I've realized I can get a lot more bang for my buck buying the "uglier" budget parts and putting the majority of the budget into the cpu and gpu, which will most likely be a 5700X and RX 6700 XT. Almost a sleeper build. No rgb, no bling, just sensible hardware that gets the job done. Love the channel.

I'm really glad you did this one at the higher price point. There aren't many cozy builders, and I've got a $900-$1,100 budget on a main PC replacement and I'm really only interested in 1080p gaming, though I wonder if my 4K/30 TV could do 1440p at 60? If not, 1080p will be fine. This goes in my living room, and I'll pass my old PC down to my two younger sons for their room. Anyway, by giving me an example of what you can pickup secondhand for a CPU and GPU, and this not being a pressing project, I'll have the patience to wait for a good CPU and GPU at killer prices, or at least what you did. Do you have an opinion on the CPU/Motherboard/RAM combos that AliExpress sells? Or are they horribly unreliable?

I went looking for that $95 2tb ssd. Amazon has it for $120 now. No dram
@octodinosaur2419Ай бұрын
Many NVMe SSD's (you could check your specific model, but generally most drives using PCIe Gen 4 support this feature) use HMB technology (Host Memory Buffer). This allows the SSD to use a small portion of system RAM as a buffer. Gen4 drives also generally are fast enough that, combined with HMB as RAM, you will not see a noticeable difference in daily activities, game loading, etc. If you saturate your drive with large file transfers regularly as part of your work flow, I would suggest a drive with DRAM.
@saysbadmanАй бұрын
@@octodinosaur2419 is that OS dependent? I would absolutely saturate at first building a 1tb Batocera drive. I'm ready for SSD prices to come down.
