Don't apologize. That was a fabulous reaction to the best arrangement of any Christmas song ever. "Why am I getting so excited?" I think you know now. I had the same reaction the first time I heard this. I never really liked this song, but I had to listen to it again, immediately, and several times. Adam just did such an amazing arrangement. And the boys interpreted it so amazingly. One down, only about 150 to go. And you are absolutely right that PTX, VP and HF each have a unique approach. I heard them described this way: PTX is the choir kids; Voiceplay is the musical theater kids; and Home Free is the kids singing out in the parking lot and having a party. I appreciate the talent in each of them, but I'm headed to the parking lot.

Love the description. I think this is my favourite Christmas song. The guys apparently don't do many of Adam's arrangements as they are so complex. Just love the breathy percussion at the beginning and Tim's low 'dragon's breath.' Austins high runs were beautiful. Also like the 4 octave 'listen to what I hear' in the middle. Rob & Chris both getting some solo bits and then the harmonies. Respect! Great review, mate .Many more to react to. Have heaps of fun ❤🙂

Tim Foust, the bass singer for Home Free whose low notes were freaking you out a little, was also the first singer, using his upper register to start off the song. He is known for his "growl" notes, and has helped Geoff Castellucci (VoicePlay bass) with his subharmonic technique. There are a number of KZfaq videos where Tim blows out speaker systems at sites they are playing. There is a video where Avi Kaplan, the original bass for Pentatonix, collaborates with Home Free on Ring of Fire, which is definitely worth a look.

First welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole. Heres a little history: The group started in 2000 by brothers Chris and Adam Rupp .They are the first and only known country a cappela group but they can honestly sing any genre. They won The Sing Off season 4 2013 that's where they became very popular. Fans of Home Free are known as Home Fries .Ok now let's introduce you to the guys: Chris Rupp: Baritone (cowboy hat) One of the co founders of the group from Minnesota . Left in 2016 to pursue a solo career. Adam Rupp :beatboxer - tenor ( Freak of nature) can make any sound imaginable second co founder also from Minnesota . Austin Brown - High Tenor ( Long Reddish hair ) voice of an angel from Georgia .Rob Lundquist - Low tenor (beard and glasses) very soulful voice from Minnesota. Tim Foust: Bass (long dark hair now short with grey streak) 5+ octave range from Texas. Adam Chance : Baritone/ Bass ( Chance a because two Adams is confusing ) silky smooth voice replaced Chris Rupp in 2016 has short dark hair and usually wears a baseball hat is from Alabama. There's not a song that you pick from them that is bad ( I haven't found one yet) they do covers and have a lot of original songs to.The group has 5 Tenors ,2 Bass, 2 Baritone, 5 beatboxers and 1 freak of nature ( Adam Rupp ) and 4 take lead depending on the song. Just down to earth ,nice guys As for Christmas music : Full of Cheer, Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer, Warmest Winter, Winter Song, Beautiful Star Of Bethlehem with Jeffrey East and The Oak Ridge Boys, Cold Hard Cash, Away In The Manger , Mary Did You Know, Children Go Where I Send Thee with Kenny Rodgers, Christmas In Dixie with Alabama, Non Christmas songs, End of the Road Boyz 2 Men cover , Road Sweet Road , Cover Me ,Up Helplessly Hoping ,Brother ,Butts Melody/Remix ,Brother in Arms and anything on their playlist Hope this helps Happy Holidays

Home Free is a rabbit hole you won't soon climb out of! Tim Faust (the guy who did the first verse) has a 5+ octave range, last summer he put out a solo album titled "Pieces of Me", he's a big fan of Doo Wap music, it will blow your mind. Adam Chance, (goes by Chance), the Beratone with a 4+ octave range, Rob Lundquist, (guy with the beard), lower tenor with awesome range as well, Austin Brown, high tenor, studied music theater in college, Adam Rupp, original member and vocal percussionist that swallowed a drum set and can play a mean harmonica without having an harmonica! They do covers as well as music they write themselves. They can sing anything and make it their own, country, pop, rock, religious, opera, yes opera! They can sing a song that will bring you to tears and then have you rolling on the floor with laughter. You're in for a real treat so grab your popcorn and buckle up cause you're in for a hell of a ride!

For me is Home Free the number one group. Not only do they all have different great voices each with their own specialties, but they also have the best beatboxer/vocal percussionist I've ever heard. They find out who has the best voice or voicess for each song. No regular lead singer. Besides their great personalities, they have no egos, no rivalry, true brotherhood, really good hearts and have remained themselves. Follow them and you will be surprised how talented they are . Here it is with Chris Rupp (with hat). He started the group 22 years ago with his brother Adam Rupp (the beatboxer). Chris left the group in 2016 for a solo album and other projects such as 7th ave and Cypress Fyre. This song is for me one of the best arranged songs( by Adam), or perhaps the best, of Home Free. So impressive! The so great harmonies, the sound effects, colors, etc. in such a beautiful but cold environment. When I saw and heard this for the first time, I did repeat it a few times. Just amazing.

This was arranged by their beatboxer Adam Rupp. This is not what you could consider typical of their songs, with this extreme soundscape. Their specific thing is their very tight harmonies. If you want gorgeous harmonies - How Great Thou Art or Helplessly Hoping. If you want 80s-90s rock; try Never Gonna Give You Up, Romance? When a Man Loves a Woman. Rom-com? I Swear or Make You Feel my Love. Fantastic originals? Too many to list, but they run from patriotic through lost and/or found love to hilarious Christmas songs. ENjoy the Home Free Rabbit warren.

Lmao! I'm glad you kept your hat on! It looked like your brain was trying to escape the shock and awe you were experiencing! 🤯🤣 I do like PTX and Voice Play, but Home Free is my favorite! They lean towards country quite a bit, but are capable and comfortable covering all genres! Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole. It's deep and diverse and you'll not find a bad performance on their lists! ❤

Thank you for reacting to the Home Free guys. They are amazing. What is great about HF is they don't take themselves too seriously. You might want to try a fun song...Cold Hard Cash...written by Austin Brown, the high Tenor...or...Full Of Cheer...written by Tim Foust, the bass man. Up to you. I realize it is a little late, but you never know. Thanks again. 😊

Home Free is a group like no other…prepare to go down the rabbit hole and love it! (btw, headphones will give you a whole new sound). You are right about the three you’ve heard so far, all are excellent in their own styles which are totally different from each other. Try “Butts Medley” for a fun side, “Brothers in Arms” for harmony, “Man of Constant Sorrow” from the movie Oh Brother Where Art Thou and “Listen To The Music” for a smile (they all make me smile).

Yup, Austin's Georgia twang is always there. Tim's drawl from Texas and Chance's from Alabama get stronger when they sing country songs. (And when Tim goes into storytelling mode.) It adds a surprising touch to "O Holy Night". Or hear them do a very different style singing "What Christmas Means To Me" by Stevie Wonder.

LOVE LOVE LOVE that reaction!!!! If I could press the 👍 button 10,000 times, I would!! I LOVE their version of this song because to me it makes it feel more celebratory. In regards to Voiceplay and not “feeling” their low end, don’t give up on them. Listen to their covers of “Halo,” “Skyrim,” “Oogie Boogie’s Song,” and much more. Check out Geoff Castelluci’s channel where he replicates himself for all the parts…gives appreciation for his 5 octave range!! Enjoy!

This video includes OG baritone Chris Rupp, who left the group in 2016, Many Home Fries think that Adam "Chance," Rupp's handpicked replacement, has made HF even more versatile

This is a great introduction to Home Free. They show you the depth to their music. Altogether they have a 5-octave range. I’m sure there are others who have broken it all down. The accent you heard is pure Georgia. I’ve been following them off and on since 2013, but now it’s what I choose to hear. I hope that you will come back with more Home Free!

Great that you've now touched on all three of the major players now , each of these acapella groups brings something slightly different to the table, but one thing they all have in common is that each group has an outstanding bass and beatbox combination covering percussion effects that raises their songs to another level. Great to see you enjoying more of the music that we love.

This is an absolute masterpiece, by far my favorite Home Free song. Thank you! They definitely started out as very country, with the old time country nasally sound (not my favorite). But more recently they seem to have quit that and I’m listening to and enjoying them much more. Thanks again for bringing us this one.

Theres post out there where Tim actually blows the speakers with his low notes, I also understand PTX, VP and HomeFree help each other out quite a lot and Tim helped Avi and Geoff get to their low notes.

This is *such* a satisfying composition. Super atmospheric intro, the 4 octaves in 4 seconds round is such a fun flex, Tim's bass work is great (as always), Austin busts out an amazingly accurate quacky Strat-NO-caster funk guitar line (crazy!), & that Stevie Wonder -esque key twist 3/4 in is #ChefsKiss!! So much to keep the ear entertained. Adam (the beatboxer btw) deserves some kind of award for creating an arrangement this special from a much less interesting original. :)

LOL! You melted!!! Awesome! Tim's base dives have that effect, just like Avi and Geoff. Welcome to HF and Merry Christmas! PTX, HF and VP are all best friends. They jump on each other's videos regularly and do arrangements for each other. PTX does pop/rock, VP is Disney, stage theater, video games. HF is country but does classics, oldies, 80s, even opera. Like the others, most of what they do is better than the original. If you can, try What Christmas Means to Me, Christmas ain't for the Lonely and for New Years you have to do Alde Lang Syne! Their holiday songs are also jaw dropping. Christmas in Dixie With Alabama and Beautiful Star of Bethlehem with Oak Ridge Boys are classics that melt your heart if you love them like we do.

Your reactions are seemingly genuine, I'm not surprised by them! This the way most first-time listeners react. So happy you discovered them. Just to let you know, there is no need to distort or mask Home Free or Voice Play videos. This is their primary way to get their music out to the masses. They want everyone to see and hear them clearly. there is no copyright problems with them. You're in for quite a ride with home free! Welcome to the "Home Fries"
