Aston Martin is absolutely his best bet. He wants a shot at the title, which he wont get with redbull. He also wants security, which he wont get with redbull. The fact is Aston Martin with the Honda engine and Aramco money would offer him everything he could want, and should ARAMCO get a controlling stake, maybe even a seat alongside Fernando Alonso.

Charles is a crazy fast driver. But Carlos is the complete package. Not to belittle the brilliance of Leclerc, but he isn't even close to Sainz when it comes to race intelligence. If you let Charles run in a hot lap competition, he will win every time. But when things other than how fast you drive are a deciding factor, I wouldn't bet on him. I cannot imagine Charles pulling off what Sainz did in Singapore last season. I am still amazed at how Carlos handled that race with a cool head even though the pressure must've been overwhelming.

In the past 6 month or so, my perception of the Ferrari drivers changed. I believe that Charles is the better qualifier and, if Ferraris strategy will truly change for the better, would ultimately be superiour. However, as soon as the strategists have an off day, Sainz is there to tell them off and capitalise. In a Team where he is allowed to lead, he would win championships. He is adaptable with his driving style (he drove the weird mclarens and did so rather well), he developed this top down view during races, he can and will capitalise. I don't think any team can afford not to check if they don't have an opening for him. Championships are not won during Qualifying, but during races, and races are this man's strongest suit.

Think about it: He improved every team he joined. Torro Rosso in 2014 was in the lower midfield, when he left in 2017, they were regularly fighting for P8 or P9. Renault in 2016 was struggling while they were significantly better off in 2019 and even got a few podiums in 2020. Mclaren in 2017/18 were still nowhere and had to completely overhaul their entire and car design. After the "Carlos-era" they won their first race in almost a decade in 2021. And lastly, Ferrari in 2020 had one of their worst seasons in the last 20 years. Right now it seems, Carlos will leave the second fastest team on the grid. I know that these examples do not really hold up but it is quite fascinating if you look at it like that.

I love Carlos and he is a great, under-appreciated driver. Even so, Max would beat him comfortably, come on. I don't really believe you think he could win. Carlos isn't as fast as Leclerc, but is very good at taking advantage of Leclerc's mistakes. He's also better at taking situations in a race under his own control when the team lets him down. Max is at least as fast as Leclerc (I think he's faster actually, when he needs to be) but he almost never makes mistakes and the RB car is loaded with oversteer to the point that other drivers can't cope. There's nothing Carlos has that Max doesn't either equal or surpass and the car is basically an extension of himself. There's a reason why drivers look worse next to him.

Since Sainz sr. likes to meddle with the team so much to steer it more towards his son, i doubt Horner feels like it. Not to mention that, despite all that meddling, Max will make Sainz look like Perez. He had Sainz beaten back in TR, the beating would be even more severe this time around. I doubt Sainz will feel like it, so no, it's not going to happen. If Perez does enough to help them get the constructor championships, a one-year extension for him is far more likely to happen.

I’m glad you made the point about his adaptability. It’s very noteworthy that he could come to terms with the difficult McLaren when Daniel Ricciardo, whose talent was never seriously questioned until McLaren, never could. And when he switched to Ferrari, it was twitchy and not the easiest car to drive at first, but he settled into it very quickly, as well. And just to piss off all the Max fanboys, it’s worth pointing out that even Max has not demonstrated that sort of adaptability - when the Red Bull was understeery, Perez was notably close to Max until that balance was sorted out. We really don’t know if Max might have struggled just (or almost) as much as Ricciardo in that absolute dog of a McLaren. Marko, for whom the sun rises and sets on Max, even paid Carlos the highest praise by saying he was almost as fast as Max and they were just about evenly matched. I was thinking Red Bull wouldn’t want him back because of the toxicity when he and Max were in the same team, but I wasn’t considering the current politics within the team. Now I have much more hope of him ending up there next year.😁 that would make for great entertainment, both on and off the track

Carlos likes his contracts done & dusted early. The fact that he's loose makes me suspect that his management team are telling him to cool it. He'll have a seat. It's a case of picking the best option. And yes, Alonzo or Sainz would be a kick in the teeth for Jos and Horner might just do it to show the Verstappen clan who is running the show

Of course it is impossible to go from hero to zero in a winter. I think he can still hammer for a couple of seasons more. It’s MB that is freely falling. And it’s quite curious that as soon as he announced his decision, he immediately got 0.6 from georgy. I don’t know all the elements but I would evaluate the situation over few months, and the beginning of next season for a more clear picture

I just want to remind you all we were talking the same way about Checo in 2020, and now most of you want him to be replaced. And before you bring any type of bollocks, Perez won later that year than Carlos this year because he was in Racing Point, a fluctuating third car at best. And Hamilton never retired
@Blauerkavenzmann

Checo won his first race on a fluke, if Mercedes hadn't messed up Russell's race he would have won it with Bottas on 2 easily. His win was random, like Ocon's or Gasly's. While Carlos has now won both times when Red Bull slipped, the second time now even against a (better) Red Bull car still on track, which should have, by all rights, just dominated. This is like back then, when Mercedes dominated with Hamilton and Verstappen scooped up wins, while Bottas couldn't keep up, even though that Merc was just surreal. Every time Carlos switched teams he was instantly on it, even beating established teammates. I firmly believe he would adapt instantly again.

When Checo was dropped from Racing Point the general consensus amongst F1 viewers and pundits was that it was a grave injustice to see a driver so experienced, talented and consistent dumped out of the sport. Then he went to Red Bull and got absolutely trounced by Max. Gotta be careful what you wish for.

Great comment young man! As soon as I heard the shock announcement about Sir to Ferrari I though the perfect fit - RedBull to replace Checo. Sure the dads will have their tensions reignited but Christian won't lose any sleep over that! 🤣🤣🤣 In fact I think this will be Christian's ideal move to reestablish his control over the RB team, a kick in Jos's teeth and a clear message to Helmut that he doesn't make the final choice. Carlos won't be worried about being regarded as No 2, he's beaten that one down these last 3+ years, though Max will be very hard to beat.

I dunno... Carlos obviously wants to win a WDC. He wants to be somewhere where he can do that, and anyone in the #2 RBR drive will be nothing more than Max's wingman. I legit think Lawrence Stroll will try to break out the checkbook in a big way to lure Sainz over to Aston. Aston is gonna be aiming to make big strides in the '26 rules change.

I really just think Horny is sick of all the speculations and that's why he said nothing is bigger than RB. He also knows Max is simply a good driver and would propably beat every other driver if they took the other car at RB. - And of course they usually all just know how to respond effective to questions. I'd still love to see Carlos in a competitive car and team that gives him every thing possible to help him get the best results.

Although Leclerc is my personal favorite driver, you can't take anything away from Carlos! I wanted to see him stay with Ferrari but I understand why they couldn't pass up the opportunity to grab Lewis. However, it's slightly unfair for Carlos and I don't care where he ends up, I believe Sainz more than deserves to be in a top tier team fighting for podiums if not outright wins! Smooth Operator (in more ways than one) FTW!

You forget one minor detail and that is Sainz’s unfortunate tendency to try to elbow his way past his teammates. When they were both at Toro Rosso, Sainz whined over the radio to get the team to tell Max to let him pass because “I am quicker”, to which Max answered “NO!” This set the tone for their relationship on and off the track. Like all drivers, Max and Carlos are there for one person and one person only, themselves but Max does not ask to be let through, he just passes you and goes on his merry way.

@@jamesvoneschen6603 I have an inkling there might be some "secret" agreement in place, like getting Yuki into RBR for the final year of their partnership (having a Japanese race winner would be an unbelievably massive deal for Honda). Why Horner desperately tried to get rid of Tsunoda before the last season... and let's be honest, Red Bull is known to have sacked drivers for MUCH less mediocrity. I don't think, Horner had much say regarding Danny Ric, he's there to please the new sponsors. This is F1 after all and money talks.
