Hello everyone! This is video I want to show you Cheap and Easy Way to Remove Paint from Metal. How to Strip Paint,Sometimes you need to strip paint. Here's how it works. In video i use a old Brake Fluid..With this method you can not remove paint from a car, (because it is multi-layered and resistant to weathering) With this method you can remove ordinary paint from a fire extinguisher, barrel and other metal parts.

I’m using this for my vape currently and it’s actually a very useful tool to getting the paint off I tried sanding it down after and polishing it and it’s worked out very well thank you for this good tip

Would this working on copper radiator pipes? Trying to original colour but proving a nightmare as white gloss been on a number of years. Tried all sorts 🤷‍♀️

OMG.. I just bought some Dot4 for my beetle and I was gonna stick it in there and I have a oil bronze mailbox that I put a few drops of white paint on by mistake I'm going to try this what's the worst that can happen it works? Thanks

works great on a few types of paint acrylic enamel / lacquer , others like Urethane it will just etch

I learned this the hard way after completely redoing the brake system on my old truck. I was covered in brake fluid afterwards and everywhere I touched on that old truck the paint was gone and rust started within a few days. I used that knowledge to get back at a guy that didn't pay me for a job. I dumped a whole bottle on the roof hood and trunk of his car.

But that paint is soooo thin. What about this ten layer baked on primer , paint and 3x sealant on this bike. The hand drill with wire brush barely does anything and the stripper was hell as well. I’m exhausted . I tried sanding as well for the last four days and j most layers were still there.

Use a presure washer after paint got soft.. Worked verry good for me.. Used the same as you.. Old Brake Fluid From my motorcicle.

I doubt it would matter one way or the other. I use a Dot4 because I have a beetle. But I don't I think a Dot3 wouldn't be helpful too. I got some house paint on my bronzed mailbox at the entrance. Just dumb painting I was being lazy. So if it works, great if it doesn't work at least I know my mailbox will be able to come to a complete and total stop if It has to jam on its cover. Haha.. peace.

Anything but dot 4 Brake fluid. Brake fluid pretty much goes bad as soon as you open the bottle. So this is a great use of that leftover dot 3.....I found this worked by accident back in 1975 working on my 1960 VW bus, but beware it's not just paint that it will melt off. It is also toxic and illegal to release in the environment in many places. But if you're going to spend money,I would buy paint remover (I have found that aircraft and Marine grades work best) follow the direction exactly. Once you apply paint remover do not touch it, if you are brushing it on avoid going back over the same area. This will break the skin and allow the chemical to evaporate very quickly. Spray application avoids this problem.A warm wind free work area helps, or you can cover it with a piece of plastic, don't touch it till it's done its job. This stuff is caustic, don't get in your eyes, don't get it on your skin and don't breathe it in. Vinegar and water 50/50 will neutralize most paint removers . This is necessary to remove all the paint remover residue. There are other alternatives, I stripped the engine compartment of a 1960 Chevy 1500 using oven cleaner it worked very well. Even something as simple as baking soda and water can remove paint if done correctly.

Did you check which chemicals you are actually hosing off into nature there? Nice idea but I.e. garages can close down if they are caught washing theirs into canalisation. Do You think washing it onto a lawn / into nature is cool?

Automotive paint has high resistance and this method will not be effective.

mmm... era muy bueno oara ser verdad. En mi caso no funcionó, intente quitar la pintura de un spoiler metalico, y le puse liquido de frenos, justo como haces en el video, lo deje por mas de 24 horas y no levento nada de pintira. tal vez fue por el tipo de pintira, o porque tenia clear o transparente, el asunto es que para este tipo de pintura no funciona, tal vez funcione para otro tipo.

Brake Fluid especially DOT 4 will eat any paint off of any surface in minutes , the warnings on the label should be in huge florescent day-glo colors instead of the black regular micro-print they use to warn about this highly volatile liquid that will find it's way into every crevice it can ruining any paint job along the way , paint thinner will leave a blemish on the paint Brake Fluid won't leave ANYTHING ! ! ! !

Is this safe on tin? As in 1920 house with decorative tin ceiling and walls? Why did you use a screwdriver to scrape off the paint? Can't you use a metal paint scrapper? Or a plastic scraper? Dies brake cleaner require the same ventilation precautions as paint strippers? Thanks for any help you can give me! 👍

It depends on the paint, if it's car paint, you can't remove it. If it's regular paint, he'il remove it.

That's always the tricky question. But for about two dollars you can get a.dot3 or 4 at Walmart. I just happen to buy some the other day to make sure my beetle was at the right level. Oh joy oh joy. I managed to get a few white paint drips on the side of my hummingbird oiled mailbox it's in my entry walkway. I was just painting wrong and I was being lazy and slapped it on there. And nothing is taking it off. I'm not that AR about it but it would be nice to get it taken care

Always used brake fluid 50 yrs --spill a drop on the car body paintwork ---ouch --it removes the paint fast -!

That's a well old trick but sadly modern brake fluid is synthetic so unless you can find or obtain an original formulation it almost certainly won't work any more 😢😢 Best enamel paint stripper EVER in the 60's and 70's though ... That's one reason they made synthetic stuff instead ... The old stuff ruined your car paint if you got the slightest amount on it.

Paint will never stick to that metal again. The brake fluid actually gets into the metal releasing the mechanical bond of the paint...

That's not true. If you look at my cannel, I made a barbecue with this barrel! The paint's still there, and there's no problem with the paint for 3 years.

This method only works on ordinary paint, for example, car paint is not affected.

Yes, I've been told that work the best. How to do for my balcony metal railing? Just paint them over? How long should I wait and what to do after that before I can repaint it? Do I need to use sand paper after the gasoline treatment? Sorry, never done it before but I need to real soon as my railing looks bad. Thanks

Works on cheap shit paint. Not so effective on enamel paint. Slowly stripping the paint off. Taken several hours of applying and scraping then applying more.

Contrary! It is suitable for any type of paint except automotive. I've also tested a paint removeer and the brake fluid is more effective. You can find the video on my channel from the last video upload 👍

So.. did it work tho? I have an old metal school desk my mom picked up 🙄🤦‍♀️. I've tried everything 🤷‍♀️. Roughly how long did it take? I've been at it for a week :/ thenpaint stripper barely works 😑
