This is why I never ate the nachos from 7/11. When I worked there my cheap boss would force us to put expired cheese and stuff in the dispenser. I quit soon after and reported him to corporate. Whether or not they did anything about, I don't know and I doubt it because he still owns the place and is is still the manager. Gotta love corporate 'Murica!

Hopefully you found a way to report them, because I've worked with food before and I take the food safety seriously because of the possibility of awful food poisonings and such. Also, screw that manager, I sincerely hope the employees ignored his orders on putting in expired cheese or at least warned the customers. That really disgusting.

Just checked this out through Google--wow. One person did die from this, a father of two. And several were still suffering lasting effects at last report. Crazy to think inappropriate maintenance of a cheese dispenser (and changing out said cheese regularly) could cause so much heartache.

Wow, Botulism! He had all the symptoms of a severe allergic reaction, yet it was a form of food poisoning! That is fascinating! I have chronic Hives so I know what a severe allergic reaction feels like. I have almost died before because my throat was closing up from very bad Hives outbreaks. This mentality of wanting to punish everything for anything its not good, it does not solve a problem, for most its more about wanting retribution due anger, primitive behavior at its finest; a primitive human walks at the edge of a hill going for some food for him and his family, unknowingly dislodges a rock at the edge and hits another primitive human walking below, it injures him and gets very angry then thinks "monke hit me with rock now I hit back booga booga! and so the unwitting monkey procuring sustenance gets his head caved in by an enraged ape teaching him a "lesson".

It is impossible to make everything 100% safe, if you look up medical literature you will see that this is exceedingly rare. Until what point responsibility stops? maybe the machine that heated the cheese was faulty, who is getting sued? the gas station or the company that made the machine? what if the machine malfunctioned because the thermostat was badly designed, who is the responsible who should be sued the manufacturer of the cheese machine or the manufacturer of the thermostat? What if a light fixture falls and hits someone all due defective fasteners, who is responsible? the gas station, the manufacturer of the fixture or the manufacturer of the fasteners? see how its not that simple in this kind of situations were a true culprit isn't there but it involves a whole chain. You can't expect to have everything scrutinized and inspected to avoid this there is always going to be some unregulated object or process with no true culprit, its not feasible, there is a point were suing its moot and more a sign of Karen like butthurt than a logical action, specially because after this kind of sues you sure are ruining someones life, maybe a whole family depended on that business?

Reminds me of that time when I eat old chicken from my freezer. It was the last food I had at the time, I didn't know how old it was, didn't check. It was a microwave chicken dinner of some kind. It tasted unusually good for some reason, however the next day I felt ill. I had poisoned myself. I don't really remember what symptoms I had because it happen several years ago, but probably a combination of headache, stomach pain and dizziness. It all went away in just 2-3 days so it probably wasn't very severe.

Okie so this really reminds me of the Medical Detectives class I took in STEM, finding a patient, diagnosing the patient, finding another patient with same symptoms, detecting source, treatment and announcement of what is going on. Fascinating story. I had a similar experience in California back in ‘97. Was visiting my sister, her bf and his parents. We were at DisneyLand and I had to use the bathroom. What I thought would be a routine # 2 ended up being a 30 minute diarrhea extravaganza! According to my dad, lines were held up quite a bit to say the least. Long story short, the stall I used had zero toilet paper left and I spent the rest of the day going commando 😁. I always assumed it was the pizza we had the night before, but it’s just assumption. Sorry to all the dudes who waited in line longer than usual that joyful day

I learned the hard way to stay away from anything from gas stations or 7 elevens that is supposed to be kept hot to prevent the growth of bacteria. One bad hot dog gave me terrible food poisoning.

@Zeitec, being “locked in” would not cause everyone seriously psychological trauma. Those that already know how to escape within their minds, would be ok and adapt to their situation. They are a small minority but they exist in the general population . I am a retired Psychiatrist and study this kind of thing among other aspects of human development. I have been studying human development since I was 2 years old and I am now in my 6th decade of life. There is some literature on this subject should you wish to pursue this. There is even a movie regarding a British soldier who had an injury that left him in the lock in state, but you might not like the ending of the movie. My intention of leaving the above information is education, not to diagnose, treat, or cure any illness, disease, condition or disorder. I am a retired Psychiatrist and as a licensed physician I am required by US federal law to tell the reader the medical information I left does not make a doctor/patient relationship.

For me, this would have been shortly after my open heart surgery and being heavily medicated causing severe constipation.
