Fr, if you are holding a grilled CHEESE competition, the main event of the sandwich should be CHEESE. The chicken gives an unfair advantage since obviously a protein WITH cheese would taste better than one without a protein.

I also subscribe to that logical conclusion. It’s a different sandwich at that point once something else is added. There’s so many sandwiches that also have grilled or toasted breads and melted or grilled cheese. Grilled cheese is specifically because it’s only grilled cheese. Once you put meat or whatever in it, it’s a different sandwich. Like if someone puts chicken in it, it’s now a chicken sandwich. Ham? Ham and cheese sandwich. Beef patty? Cheese burger. And so on and so on. Grilled cheese is specifically only cheese. Hence also by this logic, the one that got first place should actually have been disqualified since it’s a Mexican chicken sandwich and not a Mexican grilled cheese sandwhich.

Maybe I'm just cynical, but i genuinely am convinced subjective scores like that exist so that they can essentially just decide whoever's favorite is the winner, whether it's one of the judge's kids, a teacher's kid, the kid's parent is a raging asshole and on the PTA and want to keep them happy, anything of that sort. After all my time in high school i an convinced that there is not a shred of honesty to be had from any pre-college/university level schooling- they feign practically any support of individuality and respect and understanding of maturity. I felt like, save for the contents of what i was learning, i may as well have been in 6th grade ever single year up to grade 12. Everything is about marketability, representing your school instead of yourself to a bunch of old people in the government who really like catchy buzzwords they just assume kids are into, and parents who are just too tired to give a fuck anyway. Only two people ever did right by me, and those were the two people who taught the subjects they were actually genuinely interested in and had some modicum of personality and individuality. They were fucking *people,* not props, and those are the subjects that actually wound up engaging me woah how about that

Same recipe as the garlic bread bro just add chicken mayo in there with some tomato sauce and alil bit of hony to complement the chicken flavor also make sure to de frost cut into smaller peaces and fry the chicken first then add mayo and the rest of the things to be creative fry some onions in aswell and put some tomatoes, cucumber lettuce and if you want pickles in there aswell top the top and bottom with that garlic butter again toast it in the pan once more then enjoy the master peace and make sure to get the chicken freid left over sauce in the out side of the pan cause bro that sauce is gweeed🙌💪

I feel like judges of a grilled cheese sandwich contest would be likely to watch Tyler's videos, thus the low creativity score could be from the fact they knew he copied the grilled cheese from Tyler's channel and not his own idea, it's probably also why the winner's sandwich was accepted as a grilled cheese

Haha these kinds on competitions have ALWAYS sucked. I got disqualified because my cupcakes were too perfect and they accused me of buying them. Because I used two cutters to make hollyl leaves and berries on a basic white base. And some kid who looked like he dropped his and literally just mashed on random colours of permade icing. It caused such an uproar they were forced to apologise for calling me a cheat when my mother handed over pictures of us making them. 😂 I've NEVER seen one done PROPERLY. They mostly give 1st place to dumbest lowest IQ idiot in the school. NOT who actually earns it. As parents now it's our job to make them better. Most of the people i grew up with HATED them and how obviously unfair they were. Which lead to kids not even bothering to try and left them with bad memories. I lost lots of things growing up and still left with positive memories because they were FAIR. Vut these school competitions were NEVER fair. This kid probably was a white kid vs a mexican kid and they had to go with diversity instead of what's FAIR. That happened CONSTANTLY growing up. If they brought a native dish in they won. Regardless of if it even fit the rules or even tasted good. ☠️🤡☠️🤦‍♀️🙅🤷‍♀️🤣

I guess a kid could have came up with their own recipe, but it’s hard to be that original with something as simple as grilled cheese. Creativity for this is dumb. The beauty of a grilled cheese is that it lacks pretense or complexity. Just bread and cheese, with some added spices. Should have done a sushi completion if they wanted to test students versatility.

Well, a lot of food competitions use flavor, creativity, and appearance. Plus the Chicken one might have also got a 10/10 but was just more creative. A competition shouldn’t be “Copy the most delicious thing you can find online” it should be coming up with your own idea to make it amazing.

Why is getting it from the internet any different because I bet you your grandparents got it from a book. Because I doubt that kid with the melt made his recipe, or any other kids for that matter. so no one should have their points docked if they didn't make it themselves, if anything, they should be raised if you designed the recipe, but not docked if your didn't design it, there's more to cooking then being the first to make something.

Go find the school and ask them what THEIR rules were. You cannot tell them what their rules are it's their competition. Obviously you could put meat on the sandwich or the chicken grilled cheese wouldn't have won.

I think many are of the opinion adding meat/fish makes it a melt. Frankly I agree. I’m someone who can’t eat poultry not because I choose to but because if I did I’ll be sick. So if I ordered a grilled cheese I would not be thinking there is chicken in it.
