A Christmas Story 2 does not count as a sequel, it is a knock off. The real sequel to A Christmas story was "My Summer Story' from 1994 which is directed by Bob Clark and narrorated by Jean Shepherd and follows little Ralphie's story into the following summer at the end of the school year. That is the Christmas Story sequel that is worth checking out, regardless of the fact that it doesn't involve Christmas. Mind you, it doesn't top it's predicessor, it is still a masterpeice compared to Christmas Story 2.

Brian Levant directed this movie. The director of such masterpieces as "Are We There Yet?", "Jingle All The Way", and "Snow Dogs".

I saw this On Demand, and I got depressed for a week. No movie has ever done that to me.

Not a day goes by, where I wish this guy was this with us.

I enjoy "A Christmas Story". In fact I LOVE it!!! Not only do I have the DVD, but as a family tradition, we watch it on TBS while unwrapping presents. Now, after seeing that there was a sequel, I was going to give it a chance. But after your review, I changed my mind. Thank you.

I spent Christmas with a family and they had a great time showing me Christmas Story. When they asked about Christmas Story 2 (which was also available online), I got them to not watch it. The review makes it sound like we dodged a bullet.

I know. It was also called "It Runs In The Family" on certain VHS prints and television airings (I know that Showtime used to run it under that title back in the day). I don't think I ever had a chance to watch it, though. I think I may need to R&R that thing at some point.

Speaking of that, since I filmed this, I can now go and read that induction. I didn't want to spoil anything before I had to suffer. I find it pretty cool that me and RD had the same thought for this years Christmas induction/episode.

Y'know, I've recently been thinking about how he said this movie made him hate the original. I'm experiencing something similar with Inuyasha because of the fact SessRin was made canon in the sequel. That revelation has both depressed and enraged me so much to the point where I'm becoming unable to enjoy the original like I used to. Only thing is Emer had an entire movie that made it happen and all it took was one episode for me to start considering dropping it.

"Batman Returns" and "Joyeux Noël" (the film about the Christmas truce in No Man's Land during World War 1) are my favorite Christmas movies ...So I can be happy that none of them will ever have sequels that would royally fuck them up (no, "Batman Forever" doesn't count, for sequel to "Batman Returns" I mean something that is directly attached to it: dealing with Schreck or Catwoman and being set on Christmas time again, that would be a direct sequel to "Returns" and so it will never happen)

Sadly, no. I watch the Mystery Science Theater episode of "Santa Claus Conquers The Martians" every year. So, in essence, I would only be reacting to the 10 -15 minutes or so they needed to cut to make room for the host segments. And, even then I have seen most of that since a local TV personality around here showed the movie every year for quite a while.

I'm hoping to make that next year's Christmas Special.

Can you please review "The Divide" 2012? It's a post apocalypse movie, and it's actually one of the few movies that disturbed me. I swear, it really is disturbing and it will make you feel sick at the end.
