That is absolutely crazy Todd to think that you were out detecting a schoolhouse and through an article and your finds you find a civil war Skirmish site!!! Way to go down in history Todd!!!! I truly truly mean that!! God bless!!

Thanks Lori. It was a lucky find. The landowner has gone out there and found so many Civil War artifacts. I was happy to stumble upon the site....wish I could have gone back.

I’m a senior, a new subscriber. Really enjoyed your video and narration of the civil war history. Your place you discovered was certainly looking like a camp site. Lot of good finds. Want to say, it’s great to see young Staton along, I was tagging a long with my dad when I was young. And to this day still have great memories. My dad, a muzzle loader enthusiast, went out to shoot all the time, and I was fortunate enough to be able to shoot as well, Kentucky rifle and also including a 58 cal musket

Thank you for keeping history alive, even up here at 9k in Colorado we are building a animal rescue and small mining/history museum, I have dug CW relics for about 20y but not consistently, and 10y of pioneer and calvary relics in CO. And definitely want to display and have the knowledge to share the history! Wishing you all the best! Nice Burnside find I was thinking the same about the casing for it, it may have been kept by the soldier?
@AppalachianHistoryDetectives2 жыл бұрын
Wow, 9K in elevation....I bet it gets cold and snowy there....I would love to see it though. I love western history and would be looking for arrowheads out there or old mines. The casing has to be near there....we were right on the property line so it could be across that fence. The permission was obtained for the adjacent farm so maybe lots there.
@rockymountainlifeprospecti44232 жыл бұрын
@@AppalachianHistoryDetectives good luck with the casing ! We've already gotten snow and 4x4 trails off road hit a couple feet of snow in drifts above 10k. Next year we'll be hosting folks to come out and prospect, we have 1000s of abandoned mines and 100s of ghost towns all over, some not even on 1903 maps, alot from the mid 1850s+. My top dig would be a CW buckle, being alot moved her after the war! Welcome anytime here friend!

My cousin and I talked last night. He lives in Montana and works in Yellowstone and sent me photos of snow there...amazing. I have been to Colorado and places remind me of here. Beautiful country. I am trying to get a trip to Montana to do some fly fishing and gold prospecting....next summer.

Great video Todd, the historic preamble at the beginning gives the video context. Also when a soldier had damp cartridges they were discarded or melted in the campfire and draw fresh dry cartridges from the keg. Look forward to the next video.

I tell you Richard, finding that Burnside to me was like pulling out a gold coin. It was unexpected and unanticipated. We found these at the very end of the day and we know there is more there and on the adjacent farm. Another trip.....eh...

@@AppalachianHistoryDetectives That's awesome Todd. I would have felt the same way Todd. It's so exciting when you find something that you just wasn't expecting to find. That's the whole fun of detecting, as well as Knowing that everything we find has a story to tell. Although when you get lucky an stumble upon a civil war camp that takes the cake. I know you guys will find many more civil war relics the more you detect that area. An the surrounding areas. Can't wait to see what all you uncover from the camp. 😁👍👍

@@AppalachianHistoryDetectives I hope you do to. My daughter lives in New York City and she is getting married next September. I’m going with my wife to see my daughter and they are going to some place in Manhattan shopping for a wedding dress. I’m sure it will cost me a small fortune. I’m glad to see my daughter because I don’t get to see her very often. I also know this is a great time of year for detecting, not to hot or cold. I hope you get to go show them how to find civil war relics. Have a great week and thanksgiving with family.

It’s not a “shot” bullet, it’s a melted bullet…troops would commonly use bullets to start camp fires

This find was NOT by chance you understand. A story of life & of death wants to be told & remembered. How emotional & difficult for the father. I pray the son here did not feel like he disappointed his father. Maybe its taken this long for him to understand things. Wonderful, regardless the reason it was left to you to interpret for the country. Good Job!

Hey Ken thanks for your positive support. We have carried on conversations outside of social media and time heals old wounds. The only shame of it is Aquachigger had to make a big deal out of Todd's MineLab comments to questions from his fans. Chigg burned those bridges with his video and why I wouldn't advise Todd or any channel creator to shoot videos with him. He has become a POS.
@AppalachianHistoryDetectives2 жыл бұрын
Now be nice Joker...I should have considered more maturely what I wrote. I had not idea it would spark the lashing and response. We bantered a lot and my comments were almost solely about the MineLab and I thought it would drive his competitive spirit rather than the opposite. I hope he also learns that publishing videos on everyone who makes him look or feel bad is also immature. Sometimes the right thing is to suck it up and move on.
