***** OK, thanks. My friend also owns a 3D-Printer that works with a jet so there^s a fair amount of support plastic. He ordered a new one who also prints in layers (in a liquid though). But still you can't compare $ 4,5 k printers with ultra professional ones.

You should patent these objects or at least make a business out of it. These objects are amazing, I bet many people with interests in science would love to buy them as art, but also schools or universities would benefit from having a small model of these mathematical objects. Great stuff.

Iv'e been a subscriber to Shapeways for some time. I'm currently looking for a moveable item that is a mathematic/science structure. Both my grandchildren have Aspergers Syndrome and they feel the need to fiddle with something, it helps them stay "here" and not lost in their head. Several you have shown might fit the bill. Hypercube, Gyro the cube, Linked cubes or something with gears. I'd better start saving my pennies as I know they can be expensive. Thank's so much.

Not sure the age of your grandchildren, but your right! What I wouldn't do to have my father think of my son (high functioning Aspergers) with such a kind heart. He is now an adult, and though 3D printers weren't an option for me, I found small magnets like Buckyballs (still available on AliExpress) and those mold-able art erasers that can be pulled apart and such.... where great for him to have especially in school. Later he found that constant contact with the magnets caused him headaches.... so be ware of that. Your an awesome Grandparent!

My best to you and your son. My grandson is 17 now and attends a Tafe college to gain the preparation for University that he will need. He was home schooled for High School and is doing well. Please check out Facebook Jacqualine's Patisserie. She is Aspergers and Dyslexic so the right understanding can really help them find a good life. Patience and understanding is the key. Still looking for a "Gizmo" but the prices + postage are too high for me. Love to you all.

Yep printed electronics are a huge area of research - I know rotor beams for quadcopters have been built with multiple inks / polymers in a single run with conducting power-carrying "wires" printed and embedded inside the main structural component.

Given how undoubtedly reliant we will be in the future on this amazing technology; Is there an awareness of the materials that are used commonly for 3D printers? Are we are ready for the possible explosion of waste than can occur from people exploiting the ability to acquire whatever they can imagine at the click of a button?

What software did you model that Mobius net with? I've seen it done in Zbrush, and Rhino, but it eludes me in Polygonal 3d applications so far. I've got some idea of how to do it through scripting in 3dsmax, but my system won't support the memory requirements of the operations involved. I'm trying to find a simpler way to poly model it, perhaps through subd techniques.

TheMadbut I've since developed some techniques to create this, but it requires a lot more than simply twist and bend deformers. I have a tutorial to create a mobius cube, and that works for simple geometry, but my question was in regard to the webbing and network of voronoi holes. Again, I've since discovered how to achieve it. Thanks for the reply.
