Season 01, Episode 19, A Coffin That Small
Severide’s (Taylor Kinney) decision to put Mills (Charlie Barnett) on the fast track to move from Truck to Squad doesn’t sit well with some of the others and tension mounts between Severide and Casey (Jesse Spencer) over Heather Darden (guest star Chaon Cross). Shay (Lauren German), and Dawson (Monica Raymund) are forced to deal with a junkie’s crazy behavior while on a call and Shea considers a different way to have a family.

The victims brother was indeed phenomenal. In the last scene, he was so moved by his brother's role models he cried, as if he knew what this arrangement of firemen meant. A formal goodbye with utmost respect and honour

I live in London, England; whilst our Metropolitan Police is treated with a great deal of suspicion, that cannot be quite said amongst our London Fire Brigade. Yes, that is not shown as in absolute gratitude, especially when specific, large scale, fires have occurred, the most recent being a tower block fire, in which many procedures where called into question ... But there is still enough faith, if one can call it that, that, in an emergency, they will walk through smoke and flame to get you out. I remember Danny Cotton, the first Female Commissioner (thus did make her the most senior, active duty, Fire Officer), whilst not the Incident Commander on scene - her immediate deputy was - she still spoke a quick few words to every single firefighter going into that blaze, with, as she would tell the later Inquiry, that in 35+ years, of starting as a junior firefighter, then working her way up, she knew that there was a distinct possibility of her losing more than a few, especially if an internal collapse happened, given it literally was a towering inferno. She couldn't bare the thought of not looking her crews, men and women alike, in the eyes, and telling them all how proud she was of serving with, and for, them. She stayed on the ground, until it was confirmed that all was left to do was conduct dampening down operations, meaning the vast bulk of all the firefighters, and appliances, could be stood down, and the exhausted men could be relieved, not least home, shower, and bed ... ... although the worst would be for those specialist crews, of Urban Search and Rescue, in the following search and recovery, a utterly grim task, given the sheer ferocity of the fire itself, which completely gutted ⅘ths of the entire building ... Like so many, I strongly believe that, globally, firefighters, along with EMTs/Paramedics (which, again in London, is covered by the seperate London Ambulance Service, making up the other third of our First Responder Triad ...) are simply not paid quite enough compared to what they have to face from time to time. An acquaintance of mine, and retired firefighter for the London Fire Brigade, was told of a story of a pretty fierce fire on the London Underground, that was hot enough to melt the chocolate that used be kept in old, coin operated, dispensers that we of a certain age remember, well, to the point it had flowed out like a stagnlatite you see in caves. Once back at the station, taking his boots off, a thin trickle of sweat poured out ... So, yes indeed ... they are exceptional people whom are willing to put their lives on the line, so that others may live ... Oh, and St. Florian is the Patreon Saint of Firefighters (4th May); and there is also a Firefighters Prayer, that points to many, across the Earth, believing, as they place themselves unto God's grace, and mercy ...

Both my stepfather and uncle are first responders, and they may not belive in god, but i also know they all belive in something, it simply helps them overcome the horrors they see every time they answer a call. Some people belive in God, some belive in angels or the universe, they need something to belive or else this job would be unberable
