A overnighter on the hill top with some fine mountain views. A bit of a disaster at bed time though when I realised my sleeping bag was soaking . Anyway, I survived to tell the tale and a fun adventure was enjoyed....

A soaking wet bag is never good news murray. Glad you made it without any serious danger. I've been out in some terrible conditions myself and know the disappointment of a wet sleeping bag when you're planning to get the head down for the night - especially as the temperature drops.
@ScotlandsMountains
@ScotlandsMountains Жыл бұрын
It was a bit of worry when I first noticed it but when I turned the bag over (so I wasn't lying ontop of the wet patch) and turned the ground mat over, it wasn't too bad!). The issue as it turned out was the bottle I was using failed (probably due to the water being too hot). I have now got a plastic nalgene style one which can take boiling water. Another thing I do is after pouring the water in , I shake it around then unscrew and re-screw the lid to reduce pressure too). Anyway , ramble over - ended up sleeping rather well! Thanks for watching ATB Murray

Really enjoy following these little overnighters you get out on. It's so nice to be able to just walk up a hill and put up a tent - much harder at this time of year in BC as it's much snowier and more avalanchey. Glad the wet sleeping bag wasn't too much of a problem. What a breakfast - I haven't had a Scotch egg or a flapjack in years! Might have to rectify that when we next come over to visit family!

Hi Murray. Great vid as always! I have sympathy about getting your sleeping bag wet! Recently I was on a multiday walk and on the last night I had a miserable time 🙄. We had walked in the rain all day, when I set up camp found my sleeping bag half wringing wet due to a hole in my dry bag. So I wore my camping clothes and down jacket to sleep in, which are normally my pillow. So only thing I had dry left to use for my pillow was my food bag - just had to be careful I didn't melt my chocolate 🤣. Take care and cheers from Tasmania

Running my dog through a forest in the bike for the last 10 months has paid big dividends. Tomorrow will only be my second adventure into the hills this year so far though. Both will only have been day tramps. We will see how things go with 18kg on my back for an overnighter when I can fit it in. Don't mind telling you, my mental health has been suffering accordingly. Wonderful Scottish scenery; so different to ours in Western Australia (lovely in its own way). I have no trouble at all understanding your accent BTW. When someone as experienced as you makes a mistake with a water bottle it makes me feel more human about my cock-ups! Coincidentally my most embarrassing mountain moment came on the day I did Ben Vorlich and Stuc a chroin. I didn't notice until the following morning when I couldn't find my boots, and realised that I must have left them in the car park by Loch Earn when I got back to the car after the walk! Back at the lay by I found a note under a rock explaining how a guy found my boots and handed them in at the nearest police station. I was very embarrassed to present myself at the cop shop, and they had a good laugh at my expense, but at least I was reunited with my Scarpas :)
