The NASB does an incredible job of being as close to literal as possible. It is probably my favorite translation. It is completely transparent on what verses are not included in early manuscripts. It not only italicizes English words that they have added to make the text understandable in our language but it also puts Old Testament quotes ,when they are used by the New Testament authors, in small capital letters. There’s a reason the NASB is used by more seminaries and Bible scholars than any other translation..You do not have to give up your King James Bible to use the NASB along with it. I use my King James Bible along with the NASB, NKJV, and ESV to try to understand God’s word as deeply as possible. I’m truly grateful that God has allowed us to discover , to date, almost 5,800 Greek New Testament manuscripts, the Dead Sea scrolls, etc..To enable us to better discern and understand his Word. God bless you! Thanks for the videos

@Shawn Glass regarding the use of the NASB.. I also use the NASB but the opposite of how you use it... the KJV is my main study bible and I use the NASB alongside the KJV,, ..did you Not here when pastor Steve did a word count of Acts 9:5,6..?.. Pastor cited there were 29 words missing or Not in the updated NASB compared to the KJV.. I counted 24 words... when Pastor deducted 39 from 63 he came up with 29 I don't know how... but even if the important words are still in the text...... does this not bring the NASB into question just a little as to what is their motis operandi..?..

@Shawn Glass... and did you happen to catch his point of Matthew 9:13... where all versions of the NASB left the final two words of verse 13?... "to repentance" I think this is fairly important as there is a difference in just being called by Jesus and being called to repentance... as it is right now... many do not see their need to repent... and verses such as this in the NASB.. not stressing the outcome of being called..is Not helping the situation.. sinners need to understand the importance of repenting.. when they are called...or else do they full understand salvation?..

@@jeffcarlson3269 , Are you not aware that the KJV relies on different manuscripts than the NASB, ESV, LSB, etc. If you study the history of New Testament manuscripts you would understand why the KJV has more words. Many of those words aren’t found in any of the early manuscripts. Some words in the KJV aren’t found in manuscripts before the 14th century. Thankfully, God has preserved several older, closer to the original source, manuscripts so that we can see clearly what was in the original and what has been added. If you haven’t spent time researching New Testament Bible manuscripts and translation then listen to some of James Whites videos or watch him debate the King James Onlyist.

@@jeffcarlson3269 , I certainly don’t want to sound like I’m bashing or against the KJV. I lovingly encourage people to study the history of Bible translation and manuscripts. I use only the KJV and the NASB95 together. You don't really need anything else. The KJV is based off of the correct Greek (TR) but the NASB95 is clearer in English in some spots, for example Galatians 2:17. I have been helped by having the NASB95 to read with the KJV. The KJV is here to stay and it is more than adequate for salvation (justification, sanctification and glorification of the believer) and all other doctrines. The NASB is profitable for smoothing out some tough old English issues of syntax and verb tenses for modern readers. I love them both.

The amount of people in the comments ridiculing and judging this man is disturbing. Regardless of whether he is right or not, Jesus the Christ did not say "defend man's translation of my word and attack those who challenge the book you/your denomination chose to use" Where did we lose are way? We are to love our neighbor and our enemy. We are all sons and daughters of God, saved by the Son of man; Jesus the Christ. Defending your chosen translation, in the way that many are doing in the comments, is not Christ-like and goes against the Commandments. Infighting, such as displayed below, is from the Devil. St. Mathew 7:3 "and why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?"

The devil has people so caught up in “understanding” Gods word. They don’t know it’s not all about understanding- which that’s what the Holy Ghost is for anyway, that they forget it’s about the power behind Gods word. The kjv clearly says angels hearken unto the voice of Gods word. So when we speak his word angels move on our behalf , and demons hate the true word. They are tripped up by it, because it thwarts their plans. Even when a demon is being cast out of someone, I notice they tend to use thee, and thus. Why is that? Why don’t they quote the niv or the others? Because even they know the true word. Niv, and all that other crap doesn’t even register with demons. If k say get THEE behind me Satan. They understand the kjv better than we ever will on this side of heaven. Therefore- I don’t need anything except the Bible that the devil is attacking. The one you can hardly find now. The one that’s hidden in my heart, even before I got saved. The one that worked when I quoted when I got saved. The one that ran demons out of the Alzheimer’s nursing home when I read it 23 years ago. The one people lost their lives over to get it printed. The one without the witchcraft symbol like nkjv. The one that gave me peace when I quoted it at night when I could hear what sounded like demons knocking on my window. The one that nobody had a problem with 100 years ago, or even 50 years ago- and worked for our grand and great grandparents, the one that I remember easily even with a bad memory- that’s the one I’ll stick with till I die!

It seems whenever there is a conversation about which version is correct it always turns into a comparison to the KJV and the version in question. That defeats the whole purpose of the argument. You can't make decide which one is correct when you are using one of the versions as the standard of comparison. What manuscripts are used for the translation in question? what manuscripts were used for KJV? What are the early manuscripts that NASB talks about? What weight do the Dead Sea Scrolls hold in the new translation being that the KJV was translated before the DSC were found? God preserves His Word in the hearts and hands of the prophets He spoke through. Not through the King James Bible. Some people have turned the King James Bible into an idol.

I've read where the KJV may have added text that was not in the original Hebrew, Aramaic, or Greek text. I've also seen where the NASB is more word-for-word than the KJV. Either way, no translation is 100% and there's always words and phrases left up to interpretation. I do think there are a couple of translations to steer clear of, but I say just read whatever translation you feel brings you closer to God.

It's better to have Bible with more words, even if compounded into one verse from different manuscripts, such as KJV, than have a Bible that prefers to leave out or marginalize doubtful texts. That said, beware of the italicized words of KJV. They tend to be too conjectural...too mechanical in text-context semantics. You can still make out a clearer meaning by finding an appropriate linking word [ from your English dictionary] wherever the italics are inserted and cross referencing with other bibles.

Like most modern people who have been dumbed down over the last 50 plus years, you seem to have a lack of understanding when it comes to the English language? What you refer to as "archaisms or faulty bias translations", is really just someone who is lazy, and not wanting to be studious. The 1 John 5:7-8 passage is not a late addition! Besides being part of the TR/Majority Text/Byzantine type text, you have early Church leader quotes: ie Poly Carp(John's disciple), and Cyprian(200-248 AD martyred). Then let's not forgget ancient Bibles(which really are the oldest manuscripts, not the so called miniscual 3 Alexandrian modern bibles come from?), examples Greek Orthadox mid-2nd century, and the Old Latin 90-130 AD. Started by the Apostle John, with his disciples Polly Carp, and Papias, completed by Poly Carp, Papias, and their disciples Ireneaus, Tertullian, and Justin Martyr. All these match, along with the KJV! For the "Unicorn", Hebrew word is: re'em, Latin word is unacal, meaning single horned beast. The description of this animal dosen't match anything currently living, definately not an ox! It is large, powerful, unruly, not trainable. Jewish rabbis refer to this creature as an "aurochs", an exstinct animal. These are the Hebrew words used for various bovine: herd of cattle, or ox "baqar", ox "shor", Bull/bullock "tor", bullock/bulls/oxen/calf "par", kine/heifer/cow "parah". So "unicorn" is perfectly fine as is in it's context, and is a non issue! This creature has nothing to do with some modern view of a mythical creature? Now for the why of Easter over Passover? Pass over was already finished, and the feast of the unleavened had begun. Easter which comes from Canaanite Semitic Ishtar, Roman is Venus/Dianna, Greek Aphrodite(sex goddess), the Sunday Jesus arose from the grave was the Roman pagan holiday Ishtar(for Venus/Dianna/Aphrodite), hense Easter. So Jesus is Lord, even on a pagan holiday. The KJV translators were being technically correct, so again a non issue!

americanswan YES. You’ve got it. The KJV translators are doing the EXACT same thing the modern day translators are doing. English changes, and if the Greek/hebrew was translated literally word for word, it wouldn’t make sense. Words need to be re arranged and some added or removed for the context to make sense. You cannot compare Bible translations, the KJV is not the standard. There is so much that goes into making a Bible translation and the fact is that the KJV translators did not have near as many manuscripts as there are today. There are some errors with the KJV just like there are errors with the NASB just like there are errors with the ESV and so on. There are also things that the KJV translates better than the NASB and the NASB better than the KJV. If the KJV becomes the standard then it becomes an idol.

@isaiahardoin9574 4 жыл бұрын
Texas guy I’m not saying that making something a standard is an idol, but when someone places the KJV as a standard and regards every other translation as wrong then that is making the KJV an idol. The standard is what was the inspired word of God, a translation made by fallible men is not the word of God. Soo I’m just saying let’s not make a translation like the KJV the standard bc that’s placing it above what it’s translating, the inspired word of God. There’s no such thing as a perfect translation so let’s do our best to discover what the apostles originally wrote. I’m not saying we don’t know what the apostles wrote, I’m just textual variants on Greek manuscript of the NT exist and a translation cannot take all of that into account. So making it the standard, as in King James Onlyism, ( I don’t know how to spell onlyism lol ), is making it an idol. I say all this with the love of Christ btw

Most mss for NASB are over a THOUSAND YEARS OLDER. YES older=Accurate, closer to original. The KJV is more of a mash up of Geneva Bible, Bishop Bible, Coverdale Bible. I mean the KJV is beautiful to read, but when it comes to accuracy, FACTS are FACTS, THE NASB95 is the most ACCURATE WORD FOR WORD TRANSLATION HANDS DOWN. KJV has been revised I think x5 times now, most use 1769 Blaney revision.

@@claytonsmith6148 I'm sorry but it's not. I've seen and held most of those manuscripts. Everything I said in my Statement above is 100% FACT. You don't have to believe it, you can tell yourself it's not true, but I CAN ASSURE IT IS 100% TRUE, every word. Please tell me specifically what you think is false. I will HAPPILY provide you with evidence. Please don't think me as being mean, I truly apologize if that's how I come across. I just reached my 50's now. Like I've stated, for the last 30+ years my whole world has been dedicated to GOD, to the study of his word, Apologetics and the study of manuscripts, textual criticism. I do love the KJV, it is BEAUTIFULLY written, yes I DO BELIEVE the KJV is the word of GOD. ***BUT*** it IS ))NOT(( the end all one and only word of GOD, not even close. As we had MANY COMPLETE BIBLES over a THOUSAND YEARS before the KJV. Like I've said if you can tell me specifically what you object to, or what you think is incorrect I'll happily present the evidence to you. May GOD Bless you and keep you safe.

@@Faith-Ministries Well I am also in my 50’s, while growing up the KJV was dominant. When I was 12 I was introduced to the NIV, then the NASB. Having used them for more than 30 years, along with the KJV. The missing verses, phrases, passages, brackets, notes etc always bothered me, and never set well in my spirit? So the Berean in me kicked in, seeking out the matter! After much research, and study I have come to a Tr/Majority Text/Byzantine type text, Masoretic text only, and a KJV preferred/best position! I do utilize other Bibles old, and new from these text families. You are wondering how, and why I came to this position? Let’s look at what is known as the Alexandrian type text/critical text/or eclectic text: Alexandrius was condemned by Jerome when compared with the Antioch manuscripts. He said that the book of Revelation from Alexandria 50 years from when John penned it was totally corrupt! The rest of the NT from Alexandria was corrupt by the end of the 2nd to the beginning of the 3rd centuries. He, and the other leaders invoked Jewish scribble protocols that they be destroyed(burned)! So all known copies were destroyed, and the Alexandrian’s managed to bury one copy, and that is what we have today. The Vaticanus supposedly discovered in 1475, with no prior history? It was given to Erasmus by the Catholic Church, he examined it, and found it to be a fraudulent/fake made in his time period. In his lesser known writings, he also states that he had multiple dozens of manuscripts that came from Antioch( early mid-2nd century)or was known to have come there. His life was endanger, and knew was being watched by the Catholic Church. Especially knowing what they did to John Wycliffe(and what they would eventually do to William Tyndale). Erasmus knew that the early Church leaders(except those who were from Alexandria) only authorized Biblical manuscripts from Antioch! The Sinaiticus supposedly discovered by Constantine Tischendorf in the mid-1800’s, when it was actually created by Constantine Simonides in the early mid-1800’s. This information was not hard to find! David Daniels of Chick Publications has a complete video series where he systematically shows that it was absolutely created by Simonides! Then on top of that, he has evidence through independent chemical testing that the ink is 19th century, both the written, art! So we have the Alexandrius, Vaticanus, and the Sinaiticus that are blatant false/fake manuscripts. That for the last 150 years or so being used to make “so called linguistic updates”, only to be lying to people! Let’s not forget that the Bible has already told us not to go to Egypt(represents sin, idolatry, and bondage), and Revelation compares it with Sodom! So when we look at TR/Majority Text, comparing it with the early Church leaders quotes, along with ancient Bibles: Greek Orthodox Bible(mid-2nd century, for English use KJV). The Old Latin 90-130 AD started by the Apostle John, with his disciples Poly Carp, and Papias. Completed by Poly Carp, Papias, with their disciples Irenaeus, Tertullian, and Justin Martyr. All of these match, along with the KJV. No missing verses, words, phrases, passages etc! By the way there are no errors or contradictions in the KJV, only misunderstandings!

Just because the KJV has more words doesn't make it more accurate. The NASB says it with less words.

Probably better to read the various versions for free on the internet bec the more popular versions like nlt and esv are updated frequently every few years so paper copies can become out of date fast. Me personally I'll stick to the NKJV and the older NASB and ESV.. I've got an NIV from the 80's before it's update and I like that over their update. I do not like this gender neutral stuff they're trying to pull off. 😤
