Are you more committed to talking about expositional preaching than actually doing it? Listen in as Dr. Kevin DeYoung discusses his concern for future preachers and what he wants for young men entering ministry.

My concern is that it’s easier to claim to be “conservative” while never writing “criticism” articles about TGC or ELRC, and their left leaning articles, while being on the board of one of them and then writing a criticism piece of a conservative pastor who has the track record of actually gaining ground against the culture.

Thank you Doug Wilson for your faithfulness in the face of the hypocritical opposition of cowards. You've helped me and my family tremendously.

Why is expository preaching synonyms with verse by verse, book by book? Why can't it be a sections of scripture...

Many of you in this comment should be ashamed of yourselves. A man who has been faithful to the reformed standards and one who is kind, but yet concerned with the church has been mocked upon by so many of yall. I'm not saying that Doug Wilson is right or wrong, but certainly lets put it this way. FV has not been accepted by major reformed denominations and theres a reason for it.

TGC pushing a woke agenda is for sure a problem, but the heart of our concern should be Preachers who keep pushing un-Biblical teachings such as Divine Exhaustive Determinism, and let their philosophy (aka Calvinism) determine what they teach instead of the Bible.

Name one preacher in the Bible who did expositional preaching. In Hebrews 11 it mentions "By faith . . . " The people should know the stories of the Bible. The Bible was read and taught to oral learners. They would have known the stories. Very few sitting in churches know more than two or there stories. Typically they know more than two or there doctrines, but very few stories. The early church people were oral learners and the church quite rapidly. They were bold. How many pastors are applying 2 Timothy 2:2?

People did not do expository preaching in biblical times because people back then did not knew how to read. It would be useless, its much better to just read the text and talk about when people cant follow the text. But now everyone know how to read, and can follow along the preaching of the pastor.😊

@@jozzen77 What percentage of people sitting in churches today would know all of the stories in Hebrews 11? The early church grew rapidly among people who could not read and write. Why? How many would know about the Pharisees and Sadducees in the gospels? People today know more of the doctrines than they do the stories of the Bible. The reason why there are so many narratives is because that is how they were taught. Americans and Europeans are Greek thinkers and so those groups of people do not understand about 2/3-3/4 of the Bible in its cultural context. If one knew the stories of Hebrews 11 then that text would be completely understood. A few years ago I preached a narrative in a church and when I spoke a few sentences about how to interpret a narrative not one person could answer a question I asked. Whenever I teach a hermeneutics class and ask them to tell me what God's word is not one has ever been able to tell me. When I ask that from Hebrew 4:12 and ask what makes it living I get a few answers but not much. Then I take them to Titus 1:12 and ask them if that verse is God's word. Then I ask them if the source of that verse is God's word. Then I ask them how it went from not being God's word to being God's word. I have never had one person ever give me a complete answer. Yet so many say the Bible is God's word. Then I ask them what happened in between the time of Jesus and the first written gospel. The people have the Bible in their hand and so why can't they answer such simple questions. How many pastors are applying 2 Timothy 2:2? Certainly they have read the text. Americans might read but they are terribly biblically illiterate.

@geraldpolmateer3255 I have no idea. Like I said, you are painting with a very broad brush. Your claims are not likely. In fact, I would say it's more likely that people generally know more about narratives and less about doctrine.
