Taiwan holds the record for the most convenience stores packed into one place. There is over 13,500, and that's about one per square mile. These spots have become a must-stop for anyone bicycle touring around Taiwan.
Now, when it comes to the grub and drinks in Taiwanese convenience stores, they're quite different from what you'd find in the US. They've got a considerable variety of ready-to-eat meals that are seriously tasty.
During our bike tour around Taiwan, we've been making frequent stops at 7-Eleven and Family Mart stores. While there are other choices around, sometimes the language barrier makes it a bit tricky to order food.
One thing's for sure: you can count on these stores for a cool escape. They've got air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and charging spots, which can be challenging to come by.
August in Taiwan means one thing: blazing heat. And in the midst of that, nothing beats taking a break in the middle of the day in a place with good food, comfy seats, and icy cold air conditioning.
