Thank You Chef A.J. You're commitment to our well being is second to none. I was 480 plus lbs. I've lost 200 lbs in 32 years. 100 more to go. Also 32 years sober. Not driven to drink at all anymore but The Pleasure Trap is a constant draw. These videos are my 12 step meeting.

Greedy people do not challenge the culture of greed because greed is lucrative. The foundational problem is greed, not ignorance. The ignorance is just as willful as the greed.

As an INFJ, regardless of what anyone thinks about M/B, I am delighted to be recognized as holy, moral, and judgemental. I also have an amazing transformation that my son thinks makes me a rock star! Despite that, my son is not interested in diet. He is 35 and I believe that he is headed for a colon cancer scare from consuming deli meats. I can only hope that he will listen to me then and save himself. My competition is all the mythology around cannabis being Anti Cancer, despite the fact that Bob Marley died of brain cancer. I can only be a good model of a healthy vegan Nutritarian at 65, and hope that my son gravitates towards plant based as health issues begin to arise for him in his late thirties and early forties. I don’t want to outlive my son, but it may come to that. As the talking horse said, “You can bring the human to knowledge but you can’t make him think.”

I would have loved to have given this presentation when I was in the Peace Corps...the people in my village were dropping like flies from heart attacks and cancer in their early 60's. I have no doubt their diet was the cause.

One can always count on Glen Merzer to get to the truth of the matter. He busts all myths on this topic. I do appreciate his witty touch, however it does not shade the credibility of his presentation. I'm with you, Chef AJ re: the lion. I found myself asking the very same question you did, out loud, inside my own apartment, no one around except the cat! Smh at the reality of Glen's answer. It was a wonderful convo, Chef AJ and thank you for returning Glen to the platform especially during the holiday season when many are into gluttony, without giving a thought to their actions. 🙏🤝💪

but also I would argue that a majority of people....perhaps the largest majority...honestly believe we need to eat animal foods for best health....I was one of them...and i HONESTLY believed all the literature that told me this....people...the public REALLY need to understand you don't need to eat dairy to get sufficient calcium etc Here in Australia I ate healthier than ALL of my friends....I get all of my info from magazines, books, television and pharmacy's here....absolutely NONE of them EVER mentioned a plant based diet? up until then i can rem a friend tell me once that you could get calcium from eating oranges...I was surprised but thought no more of it as a dietician friend just said why get it from 20 oranges when a better source is dairy. I am an educated person....genuinely had no idea these foods were hurting me....even watched Forks over Knives but it went over my head 🙄. .it wasn't until I was told I had some non-significant artery damage that I woke up...from what seems to have been a deep sleep. ..even then the Dr had no explanation for me?...but I knew enough to watch Forks over Knives another 2 times that same evening, tracked down Dr Esselstyn...got myself checked with a Cardiac CT Angiogram and found out non-significant artery damage equated to a black in the widowmaker artery of 25-49% for me....and 40% for my husband....WE JUST COULDNT BELIEVE IT!! bc we always had skim milk products...no red meat...made ourselves eat fish etc etc. Within 3 weeks my cholesterol (which I didn't even know was high?) dropped 34%...my hubby 37% and his high blood pressure normalised. I honestly believe the vast majority of people have no idea the damage these foods are doing to them....and, like Dr E says, it's bc they won't have a heart event until 75% blocked....there is such a deluge of incorrect info out there from our so-called community leaders on health....dieticians and doctors....that it will take huge amounts of work to get throughto the average consumer....it's very sad and very frustrating

Great testimony. Most of us lead busy lives with lots of cultural distractions and other things pulling us in all sorts of directions. Along with conflicting dietary information, or seemingly so, that inaction and ambivalence about food and diet reign supreme.

Before we criticize meat eaters, many of us should ask ourselves why we didn't know any better before we made the change. Those of us that eat this way came to it in many, many different ways. I agree with you that the vast majority of people have no idea what eating meat and other things are doing to them or figure that they are up and running so they are good. We tend to think in the here and now and not what the future holds. In addition to that, there is so much conflicting information out there as hidingfromfate mentioned, that it is no wonder that they might not believe us when we try and speak the "truth" to them. What should they believe? There are plenty of doctors out there with excellent credentials that say eating meat is absolutely fine and certain oils are great for you. Why should anyone believe the plant based research over the meat eating research? Everyone says their research clearly shows (fill in the blank). I love eating plant based but it took me to my late 50's to even go vegetarian and 60's before I became vegan. Long and slow process.

@Bonnie Martin Yep..totally agree...I was a bit of a health fanatic...go figure? I'm 62...I had an acquaintance that was a "vegetarian" but that was it...I never considered it...other than that had never met one and besides I was too busy getting and staying healthy eating all the animal based foods that they say you must ensure you're getting??...it's pretty sad....people are dropping like flies around me here but i just have to try and find a right time to say something....I've 'done my dash' with most if them already with my overenthusiastism 😔

This is very well thought out and detailed. Unfortunately, the only people this would convince are those who want to go vegan and are hungry for a push. But people who don't want to be vegan will never watch it. People don't have patience to pay attention to something that isn't catchy and challenges what they wish to believe.

Very good presentation, although I think it could stand to be edited to also mention brain degenerative diseases which are also impacted by our diets. Same vascular system that gets clogged up and negatively impacts the function of the heart can also negativily impact the function of the brain.

Endocrine disruption from chemicals in the environment definitely is a big factor in brain illness and many illnesses. It's been suggested to eat certain foods ,herbs and nutrients so the body has the raw material to make glutathione the liver's Master antioxidant this is what we have to do in the Modern Age

I agree to it all, a great presentation. However, I have never heard of eating animals caused the pandemic, not saying it’s not true but where did that proof come from. I have read your book and it was great! Just subscribed to your you tube channel. Was 53 when I signed up!

My diet is predominately fruit. I do very well on it, and tender green leafy veggies (which I've learned I have to chew like a cow to break the fibers down to make them easier to digest), with very little overt fats....I feel amazing and hope it's something I can sustain for life.
