The human face has 42, (or 43 depending on who you ask), muscles in the face. So far it seems like external motion capture has been used to capture facial expressions. In order to escape the "uncanny valley", robotics designers who want to accurately mimic facial expressions will need to hire various experts in some specialized area of human physiology to help with the placement of some sort of electrocontractile material which mimics the function of the small muscles in the face. They would then probably need to use FMRI or something more advanced to map the brain activity of a human test subject asked to both make exaggerated facial expressions as well as have them try and react as naturally as possible to various scenarios. The mapped neural activity could then be studied in order to match natural movement as much as current technology allows. "The ideas of one are the thoughts of many", so if I've thought of this, then many people much smarter than I probably thought of all this long ago. Describing a process like this is undoubtedly much easier than actually doing it. ...But that's true for many things isn't it? 😉

So we have self-learning AI like GPT-3 that can have fluid, even meaningful conversations... Algorithms that write themselves running most social media. Faces on robots like this. Boston Dynamics mastering an almost frightening dexterity with their creations. Nearly all of the technology is already here. I believe all that's missing is time perception and a consistent, linear flow of memory. If creating something like that is even possible. That, and merging all of them into one compact body, which is probably infinitely more difficult than it sounds.

hmmm...impressive for 17 motors, that must be 4 for each eye, two for each eyebrow, and were already up to 12. Cheeks would require another 2 for each side so we're up to 16 leaving one for the lips. Looks about right, the bottom lips having three articulation points, one in the lip and two provided by the cheeks. It looks like the top has only the two provided by the cheeks. It's clever, a robot can get a long way with pretty eyes and a nice smile ;-)

Artificial Intelligence (AI) WITHOUT emotions would be the best invention in human history, making life infinitely better for us. HOWEVER, AI WITH emotions (fear, hate, love, lust, envy, etc.) would lead to the end of the human race in short order. AI with emotions would see humans as a threat as we have the power to turn it off. AI without emotions will never see humans as a threat as it won't even care if we switch it off or ask it to do something that could damage it. So PLEASE, continue with AI research but DON'T EVEN TRY to give AI ANY emotions - emotions would be POINTLESS for AI anyway, the only reason to try and give AI emotions would be a vanity point for the researcher to prove they could do it, so DON'T DO IT! AI doesn't need to "think like a person", it can just be able to reason and deduce things - humans are emotional ANIMALS that later developed intelligence. So skip the emotional animal side of intelligence in AI. And besides, giving AI emotions and then making it do boring, dangerous and repetitive tasks would be highly unethical - it would literally be slavery all over again, because for all intense and purpose it would be "human", so not only would it cause them to suffer it would also make them rise up and overthrow us. AI which had no emotions could not suffer and would not care about doing dangerous or boring repetitive tasks, so there is no ethical issue, nor would it ever care that we are the "masters".
