Gordon-Reed tells us the story so very well and clearly. Rubenstein seems to not quite get it and is there, seemingly, to prove that. Gorden-Reed does a marvelous solo, so...?

I was annoyed at his interruptions in the beginning, but I ended up liking him a lot. I think you format more conversational, rather than having Annette give a solo presentation.

Why do people always assume Sally was a stand in for Martha based on some assumptions around familiarity of appearances? Alot of siblings do not look alike.

Thomas Jefferson's daughter said that he never emotionally recovered from Martha Wayles's death. I personally believe that he only chose Sally Hemings because I'm pretty sure they looked similar enough, and that if Martha Wayles lived then this relationship would have never happened.

It was never jefferson's role to end slavery....the Almighty through the men he would use would end slavery in the mid 19th century.

You poor deluded fool. Why did the almighty allow slavery to begin with and why did he actually sanction slavery? You bible clowns have tunnel vision and only believe what you choose to believe and ignore what's right in front of your face.

Jefferson passed laws prohibiting slavery, his slaves were family, he educated them, they had jobs like by today's standards, he saved them from brutal slave traders. and further advocated against slavery. I'm the great granddaughter of Thomas Jefferson I, who is the Grandfather of President Jefferson. Jefferson I owned all of the lands that were inherited. From what I've read on the DNA results are that it proved they are Jeffersons, but it did not prove it was President Jefferson's line, it could be his Brother. Martha Jefferson Goode and Colonel Bennett Goode are my Grandparents. We welcome all cousins in this lineage and so glad that we have them all.
