On May 16, 2024, we had the distinct honor of hosting hometown legend Doyle McCormack as he reminisced about his experiences with the iconic SP4449 and the American Freedom Train. This was a rare and intimate opportunity to hear from one of the world's foremost railroad preservationists, right here in the Enginehouse named in his honor. Doyle McCormack, who served as ORHF's president until the end of 2018, has been the engineer and chief mechanical officer of the SP4449 since its restoration in 1975.
