I met Dr. Wesley while he was preaching "and Judas". That sermon blew my mind. I'm still listening to that sermon. We need more expository preaching like that. Please more!!!!!!

This interview is a blessing. I was a member of the BLVD while Dr. Thomas was pastor. His preaching is still embedded in my spirit. It's crazy how God works. I currently live in the DMV since moving from Memphis and have been church hunting. I have visited ASBC and been blown away each time. Seeing this interview give me confirmation that ASBC maybe the church for me. Thank you Dr. Thomas for your legacy building! I now have a better understanding of Dr. Wesley's theological perspective in response to his question if theology is based on scripture alone. I am always in awe and greatly appreciative, as a young minister, the amount of black males who are studying, and laboring in this thing called the Gospel ministry at such a high level. So many more men and women are pursuing higher degrees in the study of and in search of deeper understanding and meaning of whom our faith is in and then be able to attempt to live daily and by Gods grace point, by my living, someone to Christ.

This was great.. I am fan of Dr. Weasley's teaching and preaching...I am also a fan of his entire ministerial staff...his spirit of excellence, gained through yielding to HOLY Spirit

This motivates me to push towards achieving my PHD one day. I want to more than open the Bible and preach but to have the in-depth education along with the call.

This has helped me so in my understanding. Thank you both men of God.

As a proud member of St. Johns Congregational Church and one who was involved in the Installation Week for our new Pastor, I will say definitively that Howard John Wesley was absolutely invited to be a part of the Installation Ceremony and reported back that he had a schedule conflict. The original email invitation is still on file! Wesley was also in the area on another occasion and called the current Pastor to say he was going to come to our Revival at the time. Armour Bearers waited until 9pm and he never showed up, nor did he call back to say he wasn't going to make it. Wesley did however, return knowingly when our Pastor was out of town, to attend an event for a member being held at our Church. While there and our Pastor to say, "Hey Doc, I'm here in your Church!" Our current Pastor didn't even know he was coming, nor did HJW give him the courtesy of letting him know he was coming, until he got here. HJW has never reached out to us after declining our Installation invitation. There are always 1, 2 and even 3 sides to a story, but the truth is the truth. I don't usually respond to posts, but as a member of SJ, I'm offended at this reporting. Yes, members were hurt and sad to see him leave, but I don't recall all that I've heard during this interview. While I was sad to see him go, I was excited for him and his family of the new assignment God gave him. One thing one should never do, is believe what certain folks report back to you, when you aren't physically there to hear and see for yourself, as he has obviously been told some things that are not accurate. Pastor Wesley's picture is proudly displayed in our Legacy Sanctuary alongside all of our former Pastors, so I don't know who told him his picture wasn't displayed. He has NEVER been denied access to come back to St. John's, so I'm at a total loss as to why this is being said. To God be the Glory!

I like this dude. And the story about leaving his church in Springfield is deeply touching. I respect his last statement on that at 41:10 where he says "maybe some of that is ego."

Great conversation as always. It would be interesting if the interviewer would allow the interviewee to ask one question just to see the question they would like answered.

Did Dr. Wesley just say he’s reduced the role of scripture at 45:20 from 90% to 60%? And replaced that with his own experiences? God’s word in inerrant and perfect and doesn’t need to be replaced or reduced by Dr. Wesley’s personal experiences.

Are you preaching the gospel or are you preaching bible.....wow. powerful

Just watched him on Jude 3. The discussion topic was inclusiveness or exclusiveness. His stance on salvation was Jesus was not the only way. He said it was the way for him. Not necessarily the way for everyone.

"We are Alford Street is making a move towards inclusion, a belief that sexual identity and orientation should not preclude anyone from ministry involvement a little bit different from opening an affirming but inclusive and welcoming" WOW!!! I have heard much in this interview that has confirmed my thoughts about Dr. Howard-John Wesley. I have listened to a few of his messages and my eyebrow was raised, well now I know what I thought I know. Please don't ask me to explain my thoughts to you.

Pastor Dr. Wesley, thank you for your transparency and clarity. While a lot of your words hold true, there was a foundational statement you stated that needs to re-evaluated. Please consider this. Based on your statement you made about the Bible, you make the bible subjective to the reader. You did not take the Bible as being 100% foundational to your preaching rather just the leading voice. Which is no longer at 90% when you started but now brought down to 60%. Will you like some preachers evolve into using your experience in place of the word of God? When does it stop or where do you draw the line? Please, this is not an attack on you but rather things to strongly consider because it is affecting and guiding your church policy. People come to God's house, the Church to be edified by His word through the one He called. The work of Christ in us because another example that reflects him and not us. so sir, why did you during the discussion use the words "my gospels" in place of the Gospel we are called to preach? Pastor, would it not have been better to say that the word of God is the lens, NO not the lens but the EYEs through which we see things in the world. Lenses can be replaced. like the eyes our mind should be Christ 2 Cor. 2:16 declares, We have the mind of Christ. This is only possible because of faith in Christ. Romans 10:17, says Faith comes through the word. 1 Corinthians 2:16 for, "Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?" But we have the mind of Christ. To the church, we must never stop being like the Bereans Acts 17:11. Pastors please reflect on it and thank you for this forum again Johnson Oni
