Replace the "Hollywood Sign" with that quote. Hollywood hasn't had anything to say in 20 years but keeps making movies. It's disgusting. They should just make toothpics instead.

Jarmusch came from a world of mad New York; many of his music acting painting peers became unknown, or died from heroin ODs. Jarmusch had incredible aim with his career, always focused on his stories. Great filmmaker.

I hate in interviews when the interviewer doesn't really follow up on any of the guest's answers. Just straight to the next unrelated question.

@@conniediaz6456 Yup exactly! It's especially bad when you can tell the guest really thought about it & gave a passionate/genuine answer then the interviewer's like: "favorite type of taco?"

Interview with a genius. Jarmusch has a unique vision that makes his observations of the most banal aspects of life make us see life in new ways. This film, Dead Man, explores the journey of a milquetoast junior accountant into the mystery and mysticism of the early West, and his transformation. Johnny Depp is at his very best and the Neil Young soundtrack adds a rock 'n roll vibe, which for some reason fits the film perfectly. The supporting actors are brilliant. The B/W cinematography is breathtaking. What more could you ask for? This film will withstand many viewings, and the viewer will discover new details with each. And typical for Jarmusch, there's an undercurrent of humor running through it that keeps the film from taking itself too seriously. After renting it a couple of times I broke down and bought it. I cannot find anything wrong with this film.

Even though Charlie Rose is usually very neutral in his interviews, I can sense his dislike for Jarmusch in this interview, for some reason.. It's almost as if he thinks Jarmusch is just a pretentious wannabe artist. Which is strange. Especially since Dead Man, as others have pointed out, is a true masterpiece.

Jarmusch was so fascinated by Young he made a documentary about him, Year of the Horse. Well worth watching if you're a fan of either guy. In an interview Jarmusch said he envied Young's ability to evoke emotion with a few notes while as a film director he needed huge resources of money and equipment to get a similar response.

He looks about late 30's to me. As for the comment about 'facials', nah. He probably just stays indoors a lot. Most damage you get later to your skin is through UV/sun exposure. Either way, it's not important. Dead Man is a great film. One of the best of its time.
