Tye Zamora, original bassist with Alien Ant Farm, currently with Slightly Stoopid, stopped by the shop to get some custom work done. He was was nice enough to sit down with me for a conversation about bass gear, his career, music and other stuff. Please join us.

I miss seeing this guy.. I was in my early 20s when i first heard AAF and there was something very special about, Tye, he had this personality and character that really resonated with me.. I hope hes doing well, we need more musicians like him on the main stage.

Realised AAF were back making music recently. haven't listened to them in probably close to a decade. I was pretty bummed when I realised Tye wasn't in the band anymore :( His personality, antics and energy always shone through whenever you saw them play.

Definitely not the same band without him. But Tye is living his best life and still killin it with Slightly Stoopid.

Tye is probably my favorite bass guitarist. And I came from being raised on Flea from the Chili Peppers and P-Nut from 311. Even John Enwistle would have a run for his money with Tye Zamora.

probably the best rock bassist from that era! always seemed like he was the most well-trained player, compared to someone like flea who just slaps and does his own style

Great video!! That 6 string is awesome. I totally agree when Tye says he doesn’t like it when companies change the headstock for 5/6 strings, never looked right to me. I know they need to for alignment purposes but it just looks odd lol

What does "35 inch scale" mean? The spacing of the frets?

The distance between the bridge and the nut. The total vibrating length of the string. For example, most “short scale” basses have a 30” scale. Most Fender Precision and Jazz Basses have a 34” scale.
