It reminds me when I was living in NW Arkansas for a brief spell, I used to like to go down to the lake at night to smoke my pipe (the legal kind). I'd sit on a bench on a dark path next to the shore of the lake, probably 50 yards from the parking lot. I tended to notice a surprising number of men wandering around in the dark. I'd notice maybe 4-5 a night - it just seemed odd and they seemed a little nervous. One night one came up and said hi, and after a little awkward small talk asked if I "like to party". I responded that I was flattered but I wasn't gay. He got defensive, saying of course he wasn't either, and just stumbled away. I went home and looked it up - yes, that was a known gay pick up site. The only way someone addicted can get treatment is if, 1. They truly admit they have the problem. 2. They go and work the programs and truly try. They might slip, but keep trying. 3. Cut ties with all the people they were doing substances with. 4. Do not get back into it with the others in the programs. And 5. Have the will to get off it all. Probably more. Jail is not the answer. Monitoring is not the answer. Some people will never quit. No one has the answer.
