What would you do? Adventure or Dollars? Today we're leaving Cusco on a overnight bus with Peru Hop, but this travel day is more like DAYS, ending up in La Paz with Bolivia Hop. Adventure, bus review, crazy stories, this vlog has it all... Check out South America tours (and more!) here: geni.us/fzR3R ⬇ See below ⬇
We've had an epic week in Cusco and exploring Peru, but it's time to move on and for the next lot of travel we had a decision to make. Should we spend the money, almost $1,500 on flights, or take on a classic South America adventure? Instead using the money on experiences, randomness and seeing more of the rural areas?
Adventure won out after we found Peru Hop buses - this isn't sponsored, but they genuinely seemed to be the most efficient way for travellers to make sense of the public bus setup in South America. Peru hop is a hop on hop off kind of system, it also runs as Bolivia Hop there, and just makes it much easier if you don't speak Spanish. We had some concerns about safety, efficiency, comfort etc and for the most part everything was all good! ... other than the leaking window and stinky toilet, but we'll take that.
It also meant we had the chance to jump on a couple of cheap tours to explore on Lake Titicaca, both from Puno in Peru and Copacabana in Bolivia.
So was it worth it? Let us know in the comments below, what would you do?
These South America travels were filmed in October 2023, an amazing time of year to visit. We spent a month exploring Peru, Bolivia, Argentina and Chile and these travel vlogs are to share our experience of the first time touching the continent... safe to say we loved it! Over that time we took 2 different tours with G Adventures and that saved our ass in more ways than one - stress free, safer, all the travel advice we needed, transport pre-arranged and an epic group of people to travel with. If you plan on travelling South America (or anywhere else in the world actually!) take a look here: geni.us/fzR3R Also, consider using some of our links and recommendations from the below to support the channel. Thanks!

This is Awesome seeing this! We did this trip in reverse in 2018 (La Paz, 3 hrs in Copacabana, stayed the night in Puno, ~2 hr lunch buffet somewhere, Cusco). In all these years, you are the first KZfaqrs I have stumbled across that have done this journey (or at least shown it). 👍🏼

Wow! Sounds a journey that's like a buffet of South American awesomeness! Can't wait for the next few episodes because it felt like hopping from Peru to Bolivia, Argentina, and Chile is like playing cultural hopscotch. I already visited Chile and Argentina few years ago to film one of our TV show and I would love to see what you have in store for us!

What an adventure! I took a bus in Chile and thought it was of very high standard and comfy. But my brother rode with chickens on the bus in Peru...there is no in between lol

Harriet and I have traveled extensively in South America. We found buses a little challenging. If you can find them. We hired a driver/guide booked well ahead of time. It's costly, but much more pleasant only when the infrastructure is poor or sketchy. But you guys handled it well. Sending you much love❤ from Richmond, Va. Harriet, Jim and Yuki

Totally agree re the buses, they are quite challenging! Luckily this one with Peru Hop in particular is more for tourists and the rest of our time was on tours, so all in all pretty stress free!

Hi Stacey & Daneger, Your South America series is bringing back all my memories of travelling South America for 6months back in 2016. We did a lot of overnight buses! They were interesting! A bit hit and miss but still fun! We stayed in Hostel Las Olas in Copacabana too- was a mission getting our bags up there!😅I absolutely loved Bolivia...so I'm looking forward to see your next few videos! Michelle

I loved Peru Hop, did it all the way from Lima to La Paz but with longer stops. We had the same guide in Bolivia actually but I didn’t like Puno or Copacabana much at all really, how slow were all the boats!! 😭

Was the Puno tour long enough? in my Peru Hop Lima-La Paz Itinerary it says 2 hours tour and it's 20-30min to the islands so that leaves 1 hour on the island itself?
@DanegerAndStacey
@DanegerAndStacey 5 ай бұрын
Yeah it was long enough for the area they cover, which really isn't all that much of the island. We were expecting much more of a tour or to see more of the island. But it's so cheap, the adventure is still fun, the altitude makes walking lots tough anyway, the heat, and the alternative is literally sitting in the bus or walking around the very dead town. We would do it again.

@@DanegerAndStacey Thanks for the answer :) I just found out there is a storm called "El Nino" going on in Peru? Did you hear about it? Do you think it will affect my travel during May? Will it still rain alot even though May is dry season?
