I took a rickshaw ride in Dogo driven by a very cute girl driver, Koharu-chan!
Koharu-chan is a rickshaw driver working at "Rikisha honten" in the Dogo area of Matsuyama, Ehime.😊
Dogo area is a town of hot springs popular among tourists. And it is also an area with roots in Japanese literature.
Koharu-chan is a rickshaw driver who is a sophomore in college.
With her cute smile, she guided me around the town of Dogo. 😊

Koharu-san has a great, bubbly personality! I'm curious though, GTJT-san or anyone who might know: is her way of speaking a regional accent, or just her own unique voice? I've never spoken with a native from Ehime (or Shikoku in general), but 日本語を勉強してる私には勉強になりますので教えてください！

She speaks with the regular Tokyo accent, like most young people. Young people only speak their regional dialects with friends, family, people from the same region or when they get drunk lol. Regional dialects are considered to be informal & unprofessional in the workplace. People who use dialects from the rural area are often perceived to be uncouth country bumpkins (hillbillies) 😅
