Ren’s relative low power level, being defeated in TFA still coulda worked, making him increasingly dangerous in his desperation and insecurity, turning to dangerous powers that threaten that the galaxy. When he got a hold of the FO his actions shoulda been totally emotionally driven, razing planets on a whim, in contrast to Palpatine who had everything together.

That's an interesting angle I hadn't considered. And maybe that was the plan all along, based on what Adam Driver said in his recent interview. That TFA was the start of the plan, but unfortunately it was not followed through.

yeah, I really think he'd have been far more interesting if they'd gone with that plan A that Driver talked about. they started off with something workable... then junked their own plans!!!

Yes, agree. Let us also hope they learn from that mistake with the upcoming Dawn of the Jedi movie. The question is if Disney can attract an actor of Driver's calibre again to take the villain role.
