This footage was taken by Bill Cherkasky and his father Joseph at West Point Park on June 25, 1988. West Point Park was a small amusement park located in Lansdale, Pennsylvania. It closed in 1988 and houses were built in its place. This footage was taken during its last summer of operation.

Thank you for this video. We used to go on our school trips here in the 1970s. Such wonderful, nostalgic memories. They had a lovely place to picnic

Who would have thought that such a trivial little video like this would strike memories for so many of us? We went on annual company picnics for Sealtest Dairies, our dad (there were eventually 9 of us, but probably at least 6 of us share these memories) was a milkman. We always looked forward to it. And how fun to open the video with music from the Mummers. Only us who grew up in the Philly area would get that significance. What a great little family park to rent out to groups. Thank you for posting this, where in the world did you get it??

Good old 80s fun. For those of us from Philly, going to Lansdale seemed like such a hike lol those days were so special. Makes me sad to think that many of the people in this video, who were so full of life, might not be around anymore 😢

Thanks for posting this. It brought back many childhood memories. My last memory of the park was my 1980 visit with my 3-year old son (from New York where we lived at the time). They still had Dollar Night on Friday night, and he went on all the kiddie rides. So great to look back!

It was my first ever coaster in '88 as well. What a great park it was. Have you been to Knoebels in your life yet? Very similar park that still exists. Although it is being over ran by brown people these days you can still have a good time. Just ignore the police presence and muslims and act like they arent there.

I'm hoping there is a video of that coaster floating around out there somewhere, that will eventually find its way to KZfaq.

Awesome flashback footage! Glad you shared that with us! :) I was hoping for a shot of the wild mouse ride. If I'm correct that was the ride that was next to or actually ran into the pond. I still remember looking out over the edge of the coaster, cause I was prob. 7 years old , and being scared out of my wits cause the wild mouse would whip you and buck around and I could see huge goldfish in the water. Thanks again for the memories Darkinthepark!

+GTR owns The only ride I remember going out into the lake was the Swing Ride. Are you referring to the Jumper coaster as the Wild Mouse? If so, I don't remember that being particularly close to the water...but my memories of the park are a little cloudy...

@gtrowns8391 8 жыл бұрын
+Dark in the Park I understand memory fogginess , especially after so many years! ;) Please google West point Pics. You'll see a Wild Mouse entrance clearly. Now it's possible that white roller coaster was the one I was on, but From what I remember it was a very fast moving crazy ride that scared me as a kid. Must've been so awesome for older kids in the area to walk to this park throughout the 70's and 80's! Not to mention the previous years.

Would you happen to have any other videos of WPP? I think my mother is pictured towards the end of this video, but it's hard to tell and I'd love to view some more videos of WPP to see if I can see her. After being a stay-at-home mom and raising 6 children, the job at the ticket window at WPP made her very happy.
