in india. by the end of the video i was crying. we have to get up at 5, takes 1 hour to get to school sit in one class, only studies, no activities, hot weather, teachers unattentive, rarely air conditioned, everything, uniform, probably 8 to 10 periods a day, dead homework. we have to bring our own food, even the simplest toys like slinkies and spinners are not allowed, forget about electronics. you people are lucky. feel blessed, and you wont be able to survive even one day here. and you guys have archery and stuff? our schools dont even have the money to provide chalks to the teachers

Just so everyone knows, this isn’t what American high schools are normally like at all(aside from special occasions like spirit week or pep rallies) . Every day starts like this: Wake up at 5:00-6:00 am. This gives you time to get ready and finish homework, and shower if you have enough time. Most people don’t have breakfast because either they don’t have enough time in the mornings or it makes them sick to eat so early. Get in the bus at 6:00-6:30 am. On the bus there are two kinds of people: people who sit with friends and talk the whole time or people who sit quietly and play on their phones/listen to music/ stare out the window the whole time. Some kids also do homework on the bus or get extra sleep cause students in America have pretty much given up at basically... Life all together. Go to first period at 7:00-7:30 am. In most American high schools there is no homeroom in the morning or afternoon, unlike middle school. Homeroom is replaced with a free period or two. Lots of students try to finish homework here as well. (Perhaps you’re sensing a “finishing homework” theme here. This is because so much constant stress is put on students shoulders that everyone is burnt out just weeks into what was previously known as a “bright new year with a clean slate”. It takes energy to just get up in the mornings, let alone add another 3-4 hours of work to a 6-6 1/2 hour school day) Lunch is at 11:30-12:45 am-pm. Lunch is the worst. Usually 5-8 chairs at a table, food/drinks on seats, long lunch lines, small amounts of overpriced food(of a low quality), many kids just sit alone and eat by themselves(one of the worst parts of school, trust me). School ends at 2:30-3:00. People either ride home in friends cars or take a bus home( unless they have an after school activity/sport/detention. Then they take the late bus, or the “detention bus” at 4:09-4:30). Once you get home(around half an hour after getting on the bus) you start homework, which is usually 2-4 hours long with all homework from all classes combined, studying not included. This is the most stressful part because you don’t have anyone( with actual experience and expertise and the ability to teach)to help you with homework. Many classes assign whole packets with multiple questions on each page(double sided:)) due within one night of assignment(and from multiple classes on the same nights). Don’t even get me started on the burnouts(the kids who gave up in middle school/elementary school). Due to a learning disability of mine(autism) I often get stuck in the instructional support classes, or the “bottom classes”. Every day I’m surrounded by teens who have willingly accepted that they will never have a future. That they will never achieve anything. Teens who actively and whole-heartedly believe that they won’t even live to twenty. Kids who don’t even bother with homework or assignments or participation in class. Smart kids who Ive heard debate about bullying and how screwed our generation(gen z) is and how the American school system has to change, who genuinely think that they are dumb and less than everyone else because of their grades. And the grading system. It’s just terrible. In the America, a 69% or less is an F. A 70-79% is a D, an 80-89% is a C, a 90-95% is a B, and a 95-100% is an A. In the Uk, about a 79-100% is an A. C’s are about the same level as D’s, and F’s are the most unholy things when your parents see them(very very VERY bad results if you have parents with high expectations, which most people do). The pressure of the American high school is strong enough to influence alcohol, drugs and mental illnesses like nothing else, even though they constantly say the same things when it comes to alcohol, drugs, and suicide(classic scare tactics). The earliest most( including myself) become exposed to suicide is around middle school(12-14 years old). The American high school is really nothing like how it seems in this video. In this video you see no shuffling kids with their heads down. You see no bullying. You see no mold on the ceilings. You see no teachers yelling at their students for not doing their homework. Most high schools do not have a nice gym class. Almost no schools have archery. And no cameras are allowed out in class. This is obviously a higher middle-class school mostly filled with kids who are wearing nice clothes and still have happiness in their eyes.

this guy is right its not really like this i was very confused when i didn't see any negatives shown in the video because the whole high school experience real is so hard to deal with. long story short but because of some serious suicidal and substance problems of mine i ended up being moved to mexico against my own will to start a completely new life and continue my high school education there, so i got to experience a Mexican high school(im fluent in Spanish). when i started to tell people where i was from they all had so many questions. a lot of them were related to how dangerous an american high school is. i remember two guys asking if the schools in america were like how the movies depicted them to be. i didn't understand their question and so they explained that in the movies they always show that american high schools are rough and tough and over overwhelmingly filled with violence, bullying, suicide, partys, gangs, sex, and drugs they especially emphasized on the violence aspect. i was looking at them as if they were spot on. i told them all the things i have witness, and experienced. i told them about how 2 of my friends died, one to a motorcycle accident and the other to a police shooting (the police shoot and kill my friend at age 16). then i told them how a friend of my friend was beaten with hammers in the head relentlessly to an inches away from death. i told them that we do have a gang problem in our town. i told them that we have had over 5 suicides in our school and all deaths were made public. i told him how many drugs i have taken and how many times i have over dosed. i have told them how many fights i have been in and how i was bullied and how i have seen other being bullied. i told them how my friends jumped people and how many times i have seen my friends pull guns on people and why i would always carry a switch blade on my every day even to school. i have told them all the partys i have been to and the ones i have heard about. i have told them how some of my friends have been homeless, how my friends was kicked out of his house because he was gay and his parents abused him. i have told them about dysfunctional families and abused being common and witnessed by me. i have told them how i was drug dealing in school and trafficking in general. i told them about being a drug addict and how i have seen parents become drug addicts. i told them about some of the weirdest sex experiences of mine and best of mine. And that have been part of my high school experience my high school experience.

Some people think this is how all schools are in America. Only some schools can afford the stuff in the video. In my school it’s so boring we never really get any field trips. We always need substitutes because so many teachers can’t come. We don’t even have air conditioning and it’s always so hot where I live (California). I wish my school was like this. All we have is boring classes with kids who do drugs! But all I can say is at least I have these things.

We have bells that are 45 mins each. Most high school students have fourth bell lunch(their 5th class of the day) but i am just one of the lucky junior high to have lunch that bell. Junior high usually starts class at 9:15 but we get to school at 8:45. School ends at 3:45 and the buses leave at 3:50 and sometimes 4:00

if you go to a high school in Belgium you have to make sure you can get there by yourself at school, by taking the bus at the station or ride to school with your car. it's different if you're going to a middleschool then they mostly have their own bus but i find it way better in USA that they have their own bus

Yeah American highschools are really fun It's like a highschool musical type. I disagree with you on the whole " the education is easy" and it's not true because you can choose what classes you want to take like I took pre calculus my 11th grade now I'm taking Trigonometry and I take physics and economics soooo really it depends on the schools offerings and college is a whole new level. Above all this

Black Storm I believe the level of classes depends on the choices students make. In the school district I live in, Highline School District, students may choose the "Running Start" program where they attend college and high school simultaneously. The program starts Junior year and by the time the student graduates they have a high school diploma and an "Associates" degree. An Associates degree is the equivalent of the first two years of a four year University Bachelor's degree. So, students in the Running Start program are taking actual college classes in a college campus classroom with other college students. Students may also choose the International Baccalaureate program which has the same high standards worldwide. Perhaps unique to the Highline School District, students may choose to attend Raisbeck Aviation High School. This high school offers tecnical classes for students who know they want to be engineers or scientists. So, at least for the Highline School District, if classes are too easy, it is because the student has chosen only easy classes. Something to note is that none of these programs would be open to exchange student.

I live in Romania and I’m in middle school. There are a lot of differences between American school and Romanian school. Some of them, good, and some bad. The buses are just for kids who live way to far away from school. Most of the children are going by foot or their parents drive them to school. In my school the maximum amount of classes that a middle schooler has is 6. A lesson stands for 45 minutes. The breaks are 10 minutes each, exepting the lunch one, which is 15 minutes ( we have to take food from home ). We can bring our phones but we can’t have them near us. There are 3 classes of each grade. Example: grade 6A, 6B and 6C. We also have a dress code, which means we can only wear black and white clothes. The grades are from 1 to 10, and it’s good if you usually have 9 or 10 ( and sometimes 8, it depends on the parents ). You can receive 1 only for cheating. A good part ( I think ) is that we don’t have detention. I’m now going into 7th grade but if I was in America I would be 8th, because, here, you go to school from 6 years old, but instead of going into 1st grade, you have like a grade which is closer to kindergarten, so it kinda accommodates you with the school. At my school, for the kids who are in elementary, the school starts at 7:45 am and for the middle school kids, at 12:20 pm. We don’t have lockers :( In most of the Romanian schools, that’s how it works, but of course there are some schools that are a little bit different ( no dress code, they can have phones, more lessons and more ) I think that’s all, please, give it a thumbs up because I worked a lot to write it. Also, sorry if I had some grammatical mistakes but as I told you, I’m Romanian. Anyways, have a nice day! 🌈
