Man seeing all these old comments and watching this video 13 years later makes me feel sad knowing that some of you might not be here today. I hope everyone in this comment section and everyone in the video are doing fine and living their lives to the fullest. Thanks Katherine for documenting your life for all to enjoy. God bless y'all wherever you guys are. Though time seems to separate us across long lengths, just remember that I was expecting you to read this, whatever year you may be in. It's nice to know that you're here reading this comment friend, so much so that it warms my heart. So, how's your day going? Great, so far? If not, I sincerely believe you will do just fine. Like OE Fitness said, "At the end of the day it's night, and every little thing is gonna be oil-right. If it's not oil-right, it's not the end." By the time you're reading this, I might be a successful, prosperous person, and I want the same for you too. Or maybe I might be dead lol. Anyways, God bless you, my brother and sister in time :) GEN ZYZZ 30/05/2023, 10:59pm AEST.

Well.. i'm american and when I learned I would be going to Japan as an exchange student (I learned I would be going in 6-7 months) I made an effort to learn Japanese since I would be in Japan it would be respectful and I wouldnt say I can speak it fluently because they would still laugh when I spoke sometimes lol but I didn't speak English for the month I was there so don't generalize american's like we are all the same thinking everyone speaks English....

And this is where all the weebs come to say "Oh I wish I could live in Japan, everyone is so kawaii and nice desu sugoi moe moe!!" No Japan is just like every other country, their economy is bad, everything is high priced, and people there are really not all that nice. Not everyone over there is full of happy sunshines and rainbows, and last thing they need are some weeabo ass foreigners thinking that when they come to their country, because they want to live in their anime worlds. Grow the fuck up. If you want to live in Japan, learn the language (Not watch Japanese Sub animes thinking you'll learn that way) actually invest the money in a class or a program where you can learn Japanese. Take interest in their culture and even modern culture. Try to study abroad there, and try to live there for 6 months, and think it's all of what you dreamed of.

I'm not a particular fan of weeaboos, however one must admit that watching subtitled anime is a great resource- don't get me wrong, you cannot simply learn Japanese by watching anime, however as you get used to hearing the language it is inevitable that you will pick it up, and it would be easier to understand people when they're speaking. In regards to whether Japanese people are "nice" or not boils down to one's personal experience. My impression from the Japanese people that I have met is that their etiquette and hospitality is splendid, such that it puts some of our western folk to shame.

It actually looks like 98.54% of the people she videotaped looked pretty darn annoyed, but pretended to act normal. I can see it in their eyes. They were like: "Da fuck this gaijin video-taping us for?!" Like the way some of them would act all awkward and how others would just run up and throw their face into the screen after the camera turned on them... Shy folks I tell you.

Please, please try to learn the language and use it a little more. Japanese people are smart and considerate. I love that they clean their classroom up afterwards. That's a great idea, something they should do over here in the UK. It'll teach kids how to clean up after themselves and teach them to respect their work environment much more. All they'd need to do is add an extra half hour to the school day. A class room full of kids all cleaning would have it done in no time.

Got recommended this video just now and realized that all of these students probably are married with kids now. It just reminds me of how fast time goes by 2009 just seemed like yesterday. Wonder how the person that took the video is doing, is she still living in Japan? And yes of course the video is shaky because of the technology at that time. And why wasn’t she speaking Japanese when she’s a student at a Japanese high school?

To me it was pretty cringe tbh. I’m not completely fluent in Japanese yet but even I know you should only say “moshi moshi” when answering the phone to family or friends. Native Japanese speakers will hardly ever say it in person. On top of this you could tell the girl didn’t even try to study Japanese before going to Japan. Who goes to a foreign country and expects everybody to speak the language from your country, instead of at least attempting to learn their language? No wonder other countries view Americans as rude when we have people like her representing us 😒

Actually, people look down on you in Japan if you are a nerd about something like anime/manga, even though it is made in that country. I was an exchange student a few years back and I had a horrible time learning some of their language and culture. The best way to learn for me was to practice at home and then go speak and listen to every word and pronunciations heard. It helped a lot, and if you go to Japan you REALLY need to visit this place called a Izakiya, you will meet lots of friendly people and you will be surprised when you can start to understand words they are saying. I was eating dinner and having a drink then my ears perked up when I understood a few sentences this guy was saying a few seats behind me. I'm also gonna start the JET program soon to help teach teenagers how to speak English when I get my bachelor's degree in half a year. I'm so excited to go back, and btw it's not anywhere near close to what anime makes Japan out to be, unless you go to Akihabara (weeaboo paradise). And be prepared for everyone to stare at you like a motherfucker. One more thing is don't make the mistake of mishearing a guy say something racist and throw him to the floor, I almost gotten deported for that shit (but it was my fault and I accepted my punishment).

Jina Inu Obviously things are overdramatized and somethings downright preposterous.. as anime isn't real. But In my experience I found that many things that can be seen in anime, are very similar to real Japanese schools. At least the one I go to anyway. :)

13 years later yt recommend this video. All these people have grown up now probably they'll be getting into their 30s soon. It felt so nostalgic I don't know how or why. I hope all them are living their lives happily
