Hiya mate ima bit late to the vid 😂, got a question for you Im hoping you can answer. I’m a 16 year old boy from Uk, i don’t know were about ur based mate but I live locally to Derbyshire fire and rescue and have aspired to be a full time firefighter since a very young age my friend. I recently went to the opening evening they held last Friday and was just filled with excitement and want to have the best chance of becoming a full Time firefighter a lot of my family have been firefighters as well as my dads pal who was a fireman for most of his life and managed to gain the rank squadron leader and know he was On a significant wage 😄. Its not about the money for me mate I just love the thought of being a fireman, it’s different everyday and entertaining and I love how honoured the fire crews of all towns and city’s are constantly and I want to be remembered by my family as they’re son that managed to do some good in life. My main concern mate is my school grades as I said I’m currently 16 and I’m not gonna lie to you mate I was a right little shit in school , I get my grades for my GCSE’S results this Thursday bro and can pretty much tell u what my grades are going to be and they ain’t gonna be pretty. I regret not listening in school and wish i cud turn back the time and do well and open the world to this exciting job to give me a better chance of doing so. So the main thing from this rant (my bad you’ve probably got so many better things to do than read this) is that I want to know if my GCSE results will have Oman impact on me being able to join the fire service wen I am 18 years old. I just hope my grades i get from these don’t decide instantly if I can get tr roll or not. I would say I’m pretty fit for a 16 year old and am fine with confined spaces and have researched fireman tests and how to become a fireman for ages bro and nothing bothers me it’s just my grades bro. So in the most honest way possible pleas tell me how my grades are going to effect me once I am 18 rocking up on the day of trials and if I will be aloud at All! Thank you for reading this hagn mate ❤

Remember potential firefighters of the future it's getting more difficult to be successful in your application and housefires thanks to intensive public awareness by going door to door to explain escape routes and install smoke alarms unthinkable until relatively recently!!!!, special services are also going to be needed for example RTC'S but remember as well cars are more safer than ever than before to,and extractions are also relatively rare or not as technical as a couple of decades ago!!!!, medical call outs via ambulance services are rather increasing to remove obese patients and awkward removals!!!!, dont want to paint to dark a picture of a modern firefighters role but research extremely intensively before you blow your dream job to pieces..... forgive the clique " it's not all about fighting fires"

Nice video. One complaint. The staff performing CPR at the start of the video is doing it incorrectly. Surely you’d want to train your staff properly in case of a medical emergency?
@Maffstar73
@Maffstar73 Жыл бұрын
How are they doing the CPR incorrectly?
@charlieknibbs6203
@charlieknibbs6203 Жыл бұрын
@@Maffstar73 their hands are placed too far up the chest. Fingers should be interlocked (NOT placed one on top of the other) in order to provide adequate grip on the hand and stability for the first aider. Compressions should be between 2-2.4 inches in depth. That is why the CPR is wrong.
@Maffstar73
@Maffstar73 Жыл бұрын
Too far up the chest? Her hands are in exactly the right area-between the sternum or even between the nipples if you want to take a back-up rough guide. If she put her hands any lower she would miss the heart completely and be trying to apply compressions to the stomach! That’s why the defib pads are placed where they are so the current passes between them through the heart. If you pause the video at 1:36 you’ll see her hands are exactly between the defib pads where they should be. There’s no definitive rule that says the fingers ‘have’ to be interlocked either-that’s based on CPR only without rescue breaths. In this case you’ll see that she is applying downward pressure through the heel of her left palm whilst her colleague uses the bag & mask in between compressions. This is generally how CPR works to try and help ‘pause’ the patient’s condition getting any worse by massaging the heart whilst the defib is doing the all-important work of stopping the heart so it can restart its rhythmic process. Compression depth is 2-2.5 inches and I would say she’s doing that? Given the video gives a couple of seconds from an odd angle showing her doing it I’d say it’s impossible to determine an exact depth, but she’s certainly doing it to a very good level. Remember, these are Firefighters-not A&E Nurses who may do this daily and attain a level of perfection that Surgeons couldn’t even hit. Trauma training (normally in the form of FREC) is practised often, along with a unbelievably long list of other skills they have to learn, maintain and re-learn constantly when procedures change every year. There’s nothing on that CPR that I would see as being incorrect or ineffective.

@TheruggedChristian1988
@TheruggedChristian1988 4 жыл бұрын
If you want to join the fire service then subjects and grades are not what you need to have to join. The fire service today looks for PQAs (personal qualities and attributes) they want to see if you have the qualities and attributes of a fire fighter. The best way to study and have a chance to pass the selection is to get a copy of the PQAs of a firefighter and study them and study the role of a firefighter ect. Look on How2become videos and website for valuable information on how to pass the fire fighter selection process.

For a full time dad I would reccomend being a retained firefighter. This is where you will be given a pager and could be called out at any given moment throughout the day.

Should make one on the day of a essex firefighter. This would involve spending half a day sitting up at your nearest Asda. Not only wasting tax payers money but parking on the disabled bays making it hard for people with disabilities to park. The second half of the shift involves driving round looking for very minor accidents so they can cut the roof of a car. It does not matter if the person is out the car or even if the car was in the accident the roof must come off. Welcome to the world of a essex firefighter
