A tip I’ve learned during student teaching is that if you know someone is coming to observe you, don’t be afraid to tell your students a visitor is coming to class that day and then you can go over class rules before hand. My Cooperating teacher did that for me and I noticed it worked.

@@haileykatelynn I also noticed the error right away, but I appreciated it. I'm graduating in December as a teacher and its nice to see a teacher not be perfect. It almost feels like perfection is expected of us. I'm sure I'll make tons of mistakes.

Me too! I love watching these. I'm 17 and in my soon senior year of highschool and I kind of really want to be a teacher so these are not only fun to watch but they help me to observe and learn a little bit of what its like. I honestly don't know if I do want to or not or if I'm teacher material or not, and I'm so lost. Which I know is normal in highschool, but do you have any advice or anything on the subject? like, how/when did you know you wanted to be and were going to be a teacher? If you don't mind helping lol, it's much appreciated! :)

Observations are also an awesome way to find out what age group you want to teach! Try and find some schools in your area that'll let you come by an observe if possible!

I'm 17 in my soon senior year and I'm trying to figure out if I want to go to college for/ if I want to be a teacher.

I’d love to see what your teaching schedule is for the day. It looks like you have so much free time to plan and prepare which is so nice! Unfortunately every minute of our day from 8:05-3:25 is teaching, only a 1 hr break for their PE but we have to PLC with the other kindergarten teachers at that time. So we have no time to ourselves. Lots of working before and after school.

I’m in a similar situation with preschool. Only a half hour lunch break with 15 minutes of planning after school. With Covid, we now have a whole day for planning and sanitization and honestly it’s such a game changer. I never stay late after school anymore

I understand the overwhelming feeling of observation! Especially when you first start. As teachers we always want to improve. Also, anyone observing you no matter how well it went will give you something to improve upon. Like we would do for our students. Love all the pumpkin activities! I have 1 week of fall/harvest stuff I needed to plan in between our project based studies in preschool, and am basing a lot of what I'm doing on ideas I had while watching you describing your activities. Also, I'm not sure if it was your idea about putting the letters by the objects after drawing in your writing lesson, but I think it is absolutely brilliant! I need to start doing more of this guided practice with my kiddos to prepare them for kindergarten.

I wake up at 5:15am every morning, but my kiddos start school at 7:30am. I also like to be at school an hour before the first bell rings (7am), so I can plan my day and mentally prep for the day. Also, good luck on your observation!! You got this!! It can feel overwhelming getting feedback, but the observation feedback is to help us out, not hurt us, which I constantly have to remind myself. It’s still a lot to take in though sometimes.

Currently going for my Elementary Ed degree at WGU. I was pleasantly surprised to hear that you are doing your Masters there online. I do math intervention with K-3rd and really enjoy your videos. I love to see similarities and new math ideas to help me stay on track. I actually just made my 1st purchase on TPT. It makes it so much easier to just print and gather supplies and you're good to go.

Hello, I am from a Latin America and is very common to teach some words in English in preschools, but unfortunately most of the teacher are not native from a English speaker country, I want to ask something specific, when kids want to ask for your attention, ¿what words they usually use to?, teacher or miss?. What is the most common way to do. ¿they use the same word when they are greeting you?, for example when they want to go to the bathroom, "teacher, ¿may I go to the bathroom?" or "Miss, ¿may I go to the bathroom?" or ¿is completely the same?, thank you

The majority of Universities have "Elementary Education" as a major option for those who want to be certified K-5 (or sometimes K-6). For secondary education (Grades 6-12) at my University, we have to major in Mathematics with a Major in Mathematics Education which is basically similar to being a pure math major but instead of taking on more math courses with your electives, you fill up your electives with education courses while taking each of the 3 certification tests throughout your years there. They have multiple classes where you do field experience, meaning you observe and teach lessons. I know for Freshmen and Sophomores in the program, you have Step 1 and Step 2 which are both field experience classes. Step 1 is field experience in elementary school, and Step 2 is field experience in middle school. If you transfer after receiving your Associate's degree (your AA), you can do a COMBO Step 1&2 course which is field experience in middle school. Both Step 2 and COMBO have a substitute teacher seminar at the end which allows you to be a sub for the county after you pass that class if you wish. We also have two other classes, Classroom Interactions and Problem-Based Instruction that give you field experience in high school. This is what it's like for my uni, FIU, but others generally have an "Elementary Education" degree if you know you would like to teach in primary schools! :D

Best of luck to you on Tuesday with your observation. Even veteran teachers find them to be challenging. Have you heard of the "Five Little Pumpkins" song/poem? I just remember the last couple of lines : "Whhoo hoo went the wind/ And out went the lights/ And the five little pumkins rolled out of sight".

Hey, I just subscribed. I am an ESL teacher from Montreal, Quebec. I compose kids’ songs for my early grades, and have activity sheets to accompany them. I find that they’re a bit more modern and fun than the usual grade 1-2 stuff. The kids really like them, you should check them out when you have the time.

I have a random question. My sons in kindergarten and his classroom does not have a water fountain near it so he comes home thirsty everyday. I do send him water bottle so he can drink through out the day but what I want to know from a teacher perspective of a parents comes up to you and gives you ideas about water bottles how would you react? Just asking because I don’t want to come off as rude or anything I love his teacher. And I was thinking of providing reusable water bottles for the kids and some how to each kids name on it. Would it be difficult for you to have kids have water bottles? I’m not trying to make her day harder lol please help 😂 I just want to help her and make sure kids are hydrated

I think that is fine! Especially since there is no drinking fountain in the classroom! I would just make sure the water bottles aren’t easily spilled! 😅

I totally feel you on the cost of yoga.
