I think they will, a bit later in high school or when Griffin goes to college. I hope Turner will be able to find a job. My Publix grocery store had a young man with D.S., but he had to move to a store that was closer to him (no transit system between our neighbourhood and his). Another younger man took his place recently.

unfortunately this is how things are if you have a disabled sibling . Glass children. They are used to having to compromise more or give certain things up to accommodate their disabled sibling

I agree, but as someone with a disabled sibling I can tell you that this is going to have some implications long-term. Eventually he'll have to place himself at #1

The way he couldn't answer the question about himself, but it was easy to answer the questions about Turner is really sad. He definitely needs his own identity.

@@sarahko1014 Glass children has two meanings. One is that the parents are less concerned about the 'glass' child breaking than their disabled child breaking. The other is that the parents see right through the 'glass' child and sometimes fail to see that they're their own person.

I mean you can't really know how he feels unless you were in his shoes. I mean that could of always been his personality... people are different lol. To me he seems so mature more than likely due to the unique situation he is in with his brother and needing to be his guidance as the older brother/role-model and watching out and helping his brother grow as an individual who can take care of himself and learn how the world truly is for his future. He seems very smart for his age and I believe he will be fine as he grows older. He will understand why things were the way they were with age.

I think both of these boys are awesome kiddos. Griffin needs a day to himself sometimes. A day where he's the focus and get to do whatever he wants to do. I say this because he seems so sad. He's just a little boy but is so mature for his age. He's only got one chance at childhood and I'm afraid he's missing out 😢 Don't make him grow up too fast and have too much responsibility at his age.

I don't think he's missing out of childhood, they seem to have a lot of fun. It's a different experience with an additional responsibility, that's for sure, but I don't think he's losing the core of what a healthy childhood looks like. I agree that it'd be great if he has some time for himself though.

Why do I have the feeling that Griffin's parents have said that to him quite often in defense of Turner always getting his way or as an easy way out of situations for the parents. Griffin seems to have been forced into growing up a lot sooner than he deserves or needs. The whole family needs to remember to maintenence their own and each other's personal and mental needs too to keep a healthy balance throughout. "Hakuna Matata" ❤️

I think this is a real example of what it can be like trying to raise multiple children when one is differently abled. However, I hope Griffin gets his own space and finds his voice because it is always hard to be treated harsher because you behave a little better or respond quicker. I empathize with these parents and I hope they figure this out for these boys. It can be so difficult but you can tell how much love there is in this house. It gets better when you find your groove!

I agree with both of y'all. But they could do better. They're coddling Turner and he's a HUGE brat. This video made me so sad. Turner is a hoot, but you can feel Griffin is zapped. It's in his eyes, his body language, his words and responses. I don't doubt he loves his brother, but I find some of the parents responses really telling. Being a parent isn't easy but it's hard seeing Griffin not getting the support and attention he needs compared to Turner. You get one shot at childhood and I worry for Turner. I hope their relationship can sustain itself when this is the foundation it's built on.

Yes exactly. Reminds me of me when I was growing up basically parenting my mom who has scitzoaffective disorder which is bipolar and schizophrenia on top of dealing with abuse in the house, Just carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders, feeling like your feelings aren’t important, and that you were born to take care of the person. You just never gained an identity that doesn’t revolve around being the caretaker and the one who always gets the brunt of things because “you know better”.

Griffin, I hope you're doing well kiddo, I hope you're happy, you feel loved and you're achieving everything you set out to! ❤️ I find there's sadness in this interview. I hope the parents (&other families) were able to watch this back and were able to work on and change things to better their family and strengthen their relationships with each other. I'd love to see an update on the whole family, especially interviewing Griffin, though that may have to wait until he's older🤷🏾‍♀️.

It's sad that the father lied and said he feels it's unfortunate that every family doesn't have a person with downs syndrone...he obviously is negatively effected by having to care for a special needs child and a "abled" child at the same time, I'm sure he really wished that disorder didn't even exist. He's just trying to overstate his love but That's not necessary. Just stop playing favorites because it makes things easier for YOU, mom AND Dad.

I feel so sorry for Griffin… He says the things 😢that everyone else wants him to say! Griffin is showing hurt. These parents have 100% failed PRECIOUS GRIFFIN!! As a child of six my wonderful Mama made each one of us ( 70 to 60 years old) feel that we were her FAVORITE CHILD!
