Video: A day of spotting high speed trains at Haute Picardie TGV Station / Gare TGV Haute Picardie and some of the areas around the station which lies between Lille and Paris Nord on LGV Nord. This station has been a must visit for me for years, however back in 2014 large barriers to stop ballast flying of the tracks were installed across the fast lines partially obstructing the view. Despite my concerns of this and having spotted here now, it still remains one of the best spots/stations on the line to catch a lot close up fast TGV action at the linespeed of 300kmh (186mph) as well as some stopping.
Plenty of TGV, Thalys & Eurostar action out and about doing services to & from Paris Nord, Disneyland Paris and the South of France. Unfortunately I had hoped for a few more 373 sets (particularly some of the Disneyland Paris ones), but I had already missed the inbound one.
It was also cool to see some of the low cost Ouigo TGV Dasye Duplex units and and an IZY TGV Réseau set coupled with a standard Thalys PBKA set.

SNCF TGV Duplex sets & TGV Sud-Est sets & TGV Réseau sets & OUIGO TGV Dasye Duplex sets, Thalys TGV PBA sets & TGV PBKA sets & IZY (Thalys) TGV Réseau set and Eurostar Class 373 TGV TMST e300s & Class 374 Velaro e320s.

in the Netherlands things are not going smoothly with the TGV traffic. shortly after the HSL line was opened, the Thalys trains suddenly stopped when they passed each other on the Belgian-Dutch border and there were problems with the security system. Before the Corona crisis the THALYS ran very frequently and as a surprise the Eurostar was also added. but now that the Corona crisis has broken out, everything seems back to square one.

it is back now, and after next year the hsl will finally be properly in use, altough we should have build the hsl towards germany instead of belgium. we would have had way less politcal drama then.

it is a very busy TGV line you can see that sometimes the through TGV traffic stops at the TGV station such as the Eurostar which almost stops on the TGV line.

DelticMatt Nah if anything, the old E300s need a route of their own, notice how now, the e300s are being forced to share the route to Brussels midi with the e320s, the only route that the e300s have to theirselves is the Disneyland route, also, stupid question but do the e320s stop at Lille Europe or not?

Most of our trains don't go that fast though. They are some high speed rail projects happening in the US. Some trains in our country reach a top speed of 80 90 110 And sometimes even 125 mph.

Izy have taken them on and they won't be completely gone from Eurostar. That will still have to be used on the windy tracks that 374s can't get round.

I reccommend you should give TGV champagne-ardenne a visit, I believe its the only station where TGV runs at 320km/h

Great video there my friend. Just out of interest, is there a direct train from Lille to here? As I live in Northern Ireland and I was planning to take a flight to Lille from Belfast as a possible day trip to come here to film trains myself. Here is a like from me anyway mate All the best Ash.

Thanks very much, and yes there is a direct service from Lille to Haute Picardie, its the service TGV 5164 which goes to Marseille. The first stop is Haute Picardie.

Thanks for that mate. I can start making plans for filming trains around France and also I may buy that EU Railpass if it is worth the money and providing there is no restrictions :). I also plan to ride the Thalys, IZY and the TGV Reseau and TGV Atlantique. That should spice up my playlist somewhat anyway mate. All the best Ash.

Carmillion livery means all future TGV will have Grey/White/Red livery. Ouigo keeps their Flashy Blue/Pink livery. And of course Eurostar and Thalys keep their livery too.

@@sullybully you misheard. of course America has great trains. Many of our Amtrak trains travel through some spectacular scenery in our country. Your trains don't have much great scenery since it full of trains everywhere. It's nice to take things a little slower sometimes.

What a great video and great traction at high speed I’ve only every being to Ashford International for HS1 and Stratford International to see the Eurostar’s at speed never being out off United Kingdom 🇬🇧 since 9.11.2001 what happened in the USA 🇺🇸 shame about the down pour off rain 🌧 you had but great to see the spray coming off the pantograph at speed

You can't beat the original Eurostar trains. Love the way they go ''woooshwooshwoosh''! ....no other HS trains seem to do this. Plus they look so beautiful and elegant. The best looking HS train ever imo.

Why are French high-speed trains powered by centralized trains, and are there no power-distributed ones?

Because they have 2 levels to have more capacity. There is no enough space to put power-distributed motors with boogies in a double decker train. AGV are only on 1 level. 1 level means less capacity.

TrainSpotter 2004 That's not there fastest speed, on there speed trial, it reached a speed of 574.2 km/h making it the fastest train in was it 2007 or was it after that? 574.2 km/h in m/h is 358.875 miles per hour, holy crap

So two things I messed up on: 1, the TGV at full speed on trial was actually 574.8km/h which is equivalent to 359.25m/h 2, it was on September 13th 2009

@@ajf3202 The PSE has kinda that broken top and and can only be in multiple unity between them And the Réseau are less broken, they still have their square faces, but the top is rounded, and sometimes they have their blue livery
