Does sound like clutch... If you were boosting and lost traction you wouldn't re-grip like that. You would keep spinning. Unless you have an open diff? I dunno what comes on the RS or if you have changed it.

I mean you probably already know where and when I took it there, but there are, as you already know I'm sure, a specialist ford garage, not just a dodgy, put 4o quid in the glove box kinda garage. if you would like the detailed print out of the service drop me a DM

georgiee wasn't looking for an argument about it, thought I was giving friendly advice. obviously I don't know the car specificly, but having owned 2 mk1 rs and plenty of other fast fords before hand I have fairly good knowledge of the common issues with these cars, also having the same experience with the power your running and map your running I know the characteristics of the cars very well. maybe I'm wrong and you just clipped some oil or something along those lines but I was only trying to help. if your confident about the garage saying it's fine and that's piece of mind enough for you then spot on 👌 it obviously matters how they've tested it etc and to what extent they've tested it but every garage is different, they obviously knew what they was looking at when they diagnosed your door handle as broken which you questioned in your video but as you said it doesn't matter as long as your enjoying the car! not sure what I have to be jealous about? You're wasting your time giving advice I'm afraid. I was in the same boat as you with my RS and I bought the same clutch as you. It's fine now.

Without cams and a turbo update, there's no way a standard RS engine was ever good for much more than about 250-260hp - real, engine dyno horsepower that is.

Andrew Rabbitt times have moved on, quite a few tuners can screw near on 350bhp out of these engines (dyno'd) on the standard turbo and internals.

No they can't. Times have moved on, but the physics is still the same. The problem with the aftermarket world is they can't measure power repeatably or accurately. Since I was involved in the RS engine development as a production program through to a short race development for the VLN Endurance Championship after the car was released, I'm pretty familiar with the engine on the road and on an engine dyno, albeit quite a few years ago. The cams dictate where the torque curve is in the rev range and, along with the cylinder head/valves, how much air velocity through the engine. That leaves only boost level left to whip, which is limited by the compressor choking and intercooler efficiency. Yes, from standard there's more to be had and you might be able to breach 300hp, but only if you want to measure engine life in minutes. Of course, if you never use the 300+hp, it will last a long time, but in that case you still don't have it, do you?

If you're talking about "dynos" that you strap a whole car to then, yes, that's probably right. There are many fewer engine dynos out there and even less with people who know much about operating them...

PT82 the standard seating position is absolutely crap. That and the angle of your foot to maintain 75 ish on a motorway are my two biggest hates of this car.

waynester71 the main reasons why the mk1 is so rare in comparison to the mk2 is the no. built and they weren't designed to be a golf gti competitor, but a drivers car. the mk2 is far more suitable for regular use due to it being less focused on driving experience, more on practicality, usability and speed itself.
