Very interesting, Kohki, thanks a lot!! Interesting concept to use pixel binding for the 24 mm to function as 48 mm lens. The colors look quite natural with even vast dynamical ranges. The night shots require a closer look than it's possible on a video to evaluate them properly of course. Nao-san being not the well known Nao-san was a little confusing at first, but she did a fabulous job as well! 😊 The Xperia 5 V is definitely worth to be considered for future purchase! Excellent video, Kohki, thanks a lot again!!

Hi dearest! If the LED at night for photo and video is still very weak, the burned pixels from software bad drivers in manual modes are still there, and the front has still locked API2 for third party apps, then this one can get to museum for: once upon a time... Xperia 1 mk4 and mk5 still have these software issues as above, still very bad processing continuous shooting at night, still bad bokeh, so instead of getting a new phone, Sony should have repaired these first! Sad, you are not willing to send these issues to Sony... Thank you!

Mayor improvements that sony needs to do: 1. Make it possible that when you have burst mode on in basic mode that it can still make a single shot with the physical shutter button. Give it that delay of half a second or so before it jumps into burst mode. This way the physical shutter button would be way more usefull,this way you can relax and make single shots but also burst by just holding the button (5ii whenever i push shutter button it makes 2 photo's :( ) 2. Seemless zoom video recording also to the selfie camera pls. So you can make great videos for social media. 3. exception toggle for gps in the battery saving modes so you can have best battery life when you strawl through a city somewhere. These 3 would be impressing me

Personally, since migrated from 1iii to 1v I'm not so often use zoom lenses due to a greater quality gap with 24mm so it's not big of a deal breaker but having smaller size is. ESPECIALLY when TOF sensor is gone and I've notice really bad autofocus on periscope, with going extra-bad for 125+. Or is there only me or other reason? For my hands 1 is perfect, never understood doubts about that - better game exp, more previews for photos, more space for apps having one-hand reachability to every corner of the screen at the same time. Still frustrated about periscope lenses, it has flares (vertical) at night, pics not clear + minor downsides like absence of LED-notifs and so goddamn poor flashlight(never use one but it's still shocking).

The video quality taken on the 5V look great. Im genuinely interested to buy this phone & use it to film videos for my KZfaq channel. How was your experience with filming videos in the evening? Also did the phone heat up? The previous generations sony xperia were notorious for overheating. Last but not least is it true that Sony only offers 2 years update? Great review

The Snapdragon 8Gen2 chipset should not be overheating like the previous models, or at least not enough to make the camera stop working. Also, having a smaller (and of lower resolution) screen compared to the 1 V should make this phone run cooler.

@axeljarcor0 thanks for the info. The timing of the release of these Sony phones is always a bit odd. Isn't the snapdragon 8Gen3 coming out in a month or two? The Xperia 5V is a great phone, but for €1000 it should've had at least 256GB & 2K screen & dynamic 12hz refresh rate. Maybe the 2K screen would've been an overkill & definitely draining on the battery. But for €1000 the other 2 features should've been included. I guess I'll grab it early 2024 at a discount since Sony slashes the prices couple of months after release

The Xperia 1 III is a solid phone. I upgraded from it to the Xperia 1 V this year and am not looking back. The camera experience is better, the phone is much more snappy, and the battery life is amazing. While the 5 V is not the 1 V it has a lot of the specs.

I have had my 5 ii for a a year or probably more and the pro camera mode when taking quick moving action shots makes it the only option of a camera phone for me. Would love to find someone who can compare this new model to the older ones for action photography. The 5 ii costs literally nothing used and the pro camera mode still destroys anything I have used for movement. If anyone has used any other phones with a good action photography pro camera, let me know!

These days, modern high end smartphones have such good cameras… not just Sony, but iPhone, Galaxy, and Pixels have amazing image quality that I can’t tell them apart from photos taken with professional cameras. Maybe if I had a high end display I could see the difference…

DXOMark test includes stuff that nobody use, which drags down the score. Plus, DXOMark is not objective. They are a consultation company. They literally sold their test kits to company so they can rig the camera to get the highest score in DXOMark. Better find professionals that works with actual camera to review the camera.

This is a great video diving into the superb camera sensors in the Sony Xperia lineup. My personal opinion however, the iPhone’s stills and especially video capabilities is still on top of Sony’s as excellent camera specs are not all the deciding factor leading to the final results. The processor and overall optimization to how the phone utilizes the sensor is far more important. Also note that Sony’s sensors are already on most phones in the industry (correct me if I’m wrong), but we see the Pixel Pro and iPhone still reign supreme when it comes to mobile processing, leading to their excellent stills and video reputations. Moving away from nerdy stuff, love your vlogs and I can’t wait for more of your adventures 😎🤳

Think of the sony lineup as a more prosumer targeted product. You'll get the best possible photos from a phone out of it if your know what your doing. If you don't, stick to the iPhone for just consistently being decent regardless of photography expertise

That's ur preference and opinion lol, I tried iPhone and every other phone, the results only look good on the small screen but it's below average on bigger screens. The issue for u with Sony is that the results others get from the phone is much better than what u can get so stick to iPhones, let them decide for u by making everything look artificial and fake, defeats the whole purpose of photography lol

The thing is that if you make it brighter in these examples, then you will see in Sony's shots, it will overexposed and the photo will look disgusting and unsuitable for viewing. Therefore, he intentionally made it darker, so that the pictures would look interesting. Sony has a longstanding problem with burnt out areas that they still can't or don't want to fix. I no longer consider Sony as a top phone manufacturer. I do not consider them serious anymore, which is unlike the period of the earlier Xperias when i binged on their phones, year after year. I was crazy about Sony phones back in the period between 2012 and 2018 after which it dawned on me that Sony had "lost it". I'll give you an example of what I mean. Back in the day, the Xperia 5V would've stood out as the best in its class. Fast -forward to 2023, and I'm using the Zenfone 10 which with snapdragon 8 Gen 2, 512gb and 16gb RAM all at £820, outclassed the Xperia 5V with the same processor, 128gb and 8gb RAM at £850. There're other stuffs I'd write but just can't be bothered anymore. Sony has lost the plot.
